Stan Burley was happy serving as the NCIS Agent Afloat aboard the USSS Enterprise until a short TAD for personal reasons saw him back in DC as acting SFA to Gibbs' new MCRT team, with Tony filling in for him at sea. It was only ever supposed to be a temporary deployment, but then the team leader was injured, and Stan found himself leading the MCRT in Gibbs' absence. He never imagined that his return to DC would result in him receiving a job offer that he'd find difficult to refuse.
