Kingman, ArizonaWhen the apocalypse came, it wasn't in the form of a natural disaster, or the hand of God, nor even a plague. What came to end the Earth as humanity knew it was a self-sustaining, all-consuming species, the individual scale and mass of which the Earth had never seen. The horrendous outbreak arrived when the Mojave desert split open, and an eruption of hellish disembodied flesh surged up through the ground like a scarlet mountain, building a glowing, spiraling horn into the sky. The horn, transparent and refracted like hollow, brittle, coiled selenite, would gradually chip into nothing but a skeleton as it released trillions of spores into the air, turning the skies red, and petrifying the incompatible.
Follow the people who will see the beginning of the end up close, and see how their actions will shape the fate of the world.
