Ilya felt a stab of anger. “You won’t come out on any timeline!”
Shane blinked at him. “I literally drove here tonight because I wanted to know if you would accept six to twelve months!”
“A timeline,” he barked. “This is our lives, Shane. I want to be with you fully now. I know you are scared, but you need to be brave, and I am so deeply fucking unhappy being your dirty little secret.”
“That’s not fair Ilya, it’s going to be complicated for me. I’m already the only Asian captain in the league! The media, sponsors, the Voyageurs? It’s going to need to be carefully managed-”

"Okay. So first thing's first, everything looks good. Your iron levels are a bit low but you should be able to manage that with small changes to your diet, and we are getting you in for an MRI in about half an hour," Dr. Bernier opens the new file and scoots slightly closer, "There was something else in your results I wanted to discuss. Your HCG and some other hormone levels are elevated."
A nuclear bomb goes off. Or at least one might as well have, because Shane is suddenly left blind and deaf and feels like his skin is about to start melting off his bones.
"What?" He manages to croak.
