He was pretty, really pretty. The boy had his hair tried up in some sort of short ponytail and the sides of his head were also nicely shaved. His hair was a nice brown, the type of brown that would look slightly golden in the sun, his skin was an even softer shade of brown. Nothing gay about that, Zuko thought.
The boy had blue eyes, the kind poets would write about, the kind people would describe with the word “ocean” mentioned a million times, the really charming kind. Could this guy get any more handsome? Zuko knew better than to fall over his feet for some boy he hasn’t even talked to.
Then, stupidly, Zuko quickly half-rose from whatever he was laying down on, and slammed his head into the cute guy’s forehead.

Zuko keeps getting into fights for his “honor” and to defend his friends, luckily Sokka’s there to patch his dumbass up.

Summary
This is going to be a light enemies to friends to lovers' relationship trope between Toph and Zuko (as adults). This is based mostly off the new movie timeline, so Toph is 24 and Zuko is 28, etc.
Toph and Zuko are a part of the same friend group but aren't really friends. They tolerate each other, but they don't actually really like one another. They are very argumentative and sassy and can be cruel, they just enjoy pushing each other's buttons. The Earth kingdom is under a new ruler who is disrupting the current balance in the world and is not fit to be King. He has been in power for a while and Aang has tried to reason with him but had no luck. However, an opportunity arises when the King announced his son is in need of a wife. Together team avatar comes up with a plan to infiltrate the earth kingdom and overthrow the king to restore balance. Unfortunately, this plan of theirs requires Toph and Zuko to be closer to each other, making them both go crazy in a bad way, but surprisingly in a good way as well.

She does not kill him. That would be too simple, and Azula has never been simple. She keeps him close, leashed, orbiting her like a moon that has forgotten it once had its own gravity. Her strange, infuriating pet, who refuses to be broken in any way that satisfies her.
And now a rebellion stirs in the dark and it turns its eyes to Sokka, because he is the one who is near her.
This is a story about what survives the end of everything. About a woman who has spent her entire life being both the fire and the thing it burns, and a man stubborn enough, foolish enough, human enough, to refuse to become ash.

The Avatar is dead.
