Sonic is gone.

A canon divergence story starting after the events of IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog issue #56. Surge, wakes up in a hospital bed, she is Tenrec with greenish-yellow quills, black marking, and a bio-mechincal battle android, or Bionicle of sorts, remade by the mad scientist, Doctor Starline.
With no memory of who she was before this life, and no one she’d call a friend to be by her side. The only question now is whether she'll become a Black-Hearted villain or Brave-Hearted Hero.
Disclaimer: This is a Disco Elysium crossover fic with Surge having the Skills in her head, but it’s more of an Sonic the Hegehog IDW fic. So there's no Pale, it doesn't take place on Elysium, and I have no plans for Harry or Kim to make an appearance.
This fic will also have more minor AU elements that don’t pertain to Surge but exist to flesh out the world.

Almost a year went by, with no sign of the jackal, no one to stand trial for the atrocities, no hope of justice. Well, that's because he was found and taken in by a strange quokka with a positive outlook on life, determined to try and fix him. And now that outlook has led him here, to the ruby cafe (a cruel irony, he's aware), trying to lead a truly normal life under a new-ish identity. Infinite is dead. Zero is what is left.
He can't forget what he did. The voices in his head won't let him, the eyes that stalk him around corners remind him constantly. But maybe, just maybe, he can move on and try to be better.

Summary
Sonic is totally fine after he returns from the Death Egg and the war is over. Losing his breath and thinking the world isn't real sometimes doesn't mean he isn't fine, not that his friends would understand that. Besides, flowers usually make him feel all better, so it isn't even that bad!
Shadow catches on, though, and he's surprisingly... helpful with the flowers thing. Even when he doesn't need to be.
Now if only he'd stop acting like something is wrong. After all, Sonic is fine

Obviously, Sonic hadn't exactly had the greatest of times aboard the death egg. After all, it certainly hadn't been some fun-filled holiday space cruise.
“Boring” he had described it, “torture” Rouge had.
Very conflicting reviews if Sonic did say so himself, and neither were entirely accurate. Sonic didn't particularly like that she had used that word, but it was still a far better option than the truth of it all.
Things would have perhaps been a little easier if he had simply just been tortured.
((Sonic left the death egg with a burning in his body, and a flame he didn't know how to extinguish.
He doesn't go about it in the best way.))

Summary
Shortly after the reported death of Sonic the Hedgehog, Agent Shadow disappeared during an active mission.
Only static followed. No recovery signal detected. No remains located. Agent Shadow was MIA.
Following Sonic the Hedgehog’s reappearance, the Ultimate Lifeform did not resurface. Subsequent actions by the Eggman Empire resulted in the dismantling of G.U.N. infrastructure, so all remaining mission records, tracking data, and archival references to Agent Shadow’s last known position were lost or rendered inaccessible. Search operations continued independently, thanks to the efforts of the Resistance... Done by the people who, above all else, think of him as their friend. When all known bases and active battlefields were cleared with no results, those closest to him began to suspect the worst.
That all changed on the final day of the war. Coinciding with the defeat of Dr. Eggman and the neutralization of Infinite... Shadow the Hedgehog was found.
...He smelt of flowers.

Summary
A little bit after Silver and Duo join the new Diamond Cutters, Whisper and Tangle find an unconscious and badly wounded jackal in a crater. The two bring him in to Restoration HQ as it was nearby for medical attention, this act saving the life of the mysterious jackal who lost his memories and calls himself 'Zero.' The jackal manages to make it onto the team as well after proving his sufficient combat capabilities.
Meanwhile Doctor Eggman decides to give the Phantom Ruby one last chance to prove itself, unknowing of how the Ruby was doing the same thing to him...

After the events of Sonic Forces, where Sonic had been trapped and tortured by Eggman & Infinite for the past 6 months, Sonic was supposed to have enjoyed at least a few months of freedom & quiet while Eggman made another plan to 'conquer the world'. However, the doctor had other plans and immediately starts attacking Central City. As the attacks increase daily, Sonic has been mentally & physically drained from the effort of fighting off Eggman alone. Alone because Shadow has been missing since Sonic was on the Death Egg and Rouge refuses to tell Sonic. However, after a near suicidal attempt, Shadow appears in front of Sonic and Shadow's feelings change.
After Sonic seeks help from G.U.N and discovers his Phantom Rider suit and Extreme Gear again, he decides to disguise himself as Phantom Rider during fights until his 'injuries' are fixed. However, his friends become suspicious, especially Shadow. Will Sonic be able to keep up his secret identity while G.U.N helps him solve issues or will a certain someone discover who he is and confront him?
