Whoever said that being the youngest was easy obviously didn’t grow up with three very overprotective older brothers. Actually, if Mikey was going to describe being the youngest in a word it stunk!
No one ever took him seriously, especially not Raph. And even though he loved his big brothers – he got tired of them babying him all the time. Truth be told he had been fighting being the ”baby” of the family from the time he was seven, but here he was eight years later and still trying to get his brothers to see what he was capable of.

There was water on Donatello’s face.
No, not water. Tears. Composed of water, yes, but also sodium and potassium and lysozyme and lipids. Tears existed to protect the eyes. There was nothing in this moment that Donnie's eyes needed protecting from, but still his vision blurred, obscuring his view of the explosion in the sky and the space where his brother– his twin– used to be.
Oh. Maybe that was what the tears were protecting him from; the reality in which he didn't have a twin.
But he didn't need protecting. He needed his twin back.
OR
Mikey's portal didn't work. Leo is left stranded, abandoned, alone, in the prison dimension. And Donatello, alone on Staten Island without the other half of his soul, decides to do whatever it takes to bring Leo back. Even if that "whatever it takes" involves running away, making a portal, going to the Prison Dimension alone, and dragging Leo out himself.

Leo gets freaky space ‘cancer’ from the prison dimension

Dealing with (aka: avoiding entirely) the trauma from all his interactions with Prime in the Prison Dimension is one thing. Yes, one thing he relatively sucks at but who’s gonna lay into him for that? But adding the stress of having a weird ass deadly illness on top of that, along with hiding it from his family, and it seems like the universe DOES want him dead!
Oh well, it’s not like this could turn out horrible right? He just has to find the cure, make it, and completely treat the illness before his brothers get too suspicious! Also maybe find out what it’s called, the place of origin, maybe find a list of all the symptoms, find out how to manage living with it in case there’s no cure, any potential after affects it has if it IS curable, and a couple bajillion other things that could be handy to know!
How hard could that be?

Summary
Krang biology was weird. They could grow this... meat-moss and use it to take over things. Objects, animals, people- honestly, they kind of reminded Leo of the parasitic brain-suckers from Jupiter Jim: The Enemy Within.
Sort of. The brain-suckers would transplant a piece of their bodies into some poor unsuspecting redshirt, and then take them over from the inside. The Krang had just put their weird tentacles all over everything, and apparently that had been enough. Blech.
Well, as horribly scarring as that whole... situation had been, for- for a number of reasons, at least Leo could comfort himself that it was over and done with now! The Krang were gone. Everyone was safe. Everything was fine.
(...even if he had been dreaming about the prison dimension a lot recently...)

There are a lot of dead Krang in the Prison Dimension, it's no wonder there is Empyrean EVERYWHERE. In the water, in the strange plant life - which, okay, Leonardo isn't a very good scientist, but he's pretty sure that there shouldn't be any here - in the damn AIR HE'S BREATHING. Yeah, there's a lot of it. With that, and with the weird time... stuff that's going on, if what Prime told him was true, he shouldn't really be surprised that all of that had... such an effect on his body. Or his Ninpo.
OR
Long-Form fic where Leonardo gets a massive power boost due to his extended stay in the Prison Dimension, gets kicked out of the family due to not being able to fight in a team(also due to the good ol' PD), gets a child, a parent, and an entirely new family, becomes the greatest Battle Nexus Champion in history, experiences the horrors of High School, and so, so much more.

“It’s a nickname. Short for Donatello.”
“Heh.” He quirks a smile. “Kinda a coinkydink ‘cause-”
“Hamato Donatello.” Leo’s head shoots up and the turtle looks back. “My brothers are Leonardo, Raphael, and Michelangelo. They have nicknames too. Mikey, Raph…” He tilts his head, urging, “Leo.”
Leo stares, looking for any sign of deception. The turtle keeps talking, almost as if he’s trying to get the words out before his brain can catch up. “We’re a team. We fight crime and save people. I have a father. We call him Splinter. He’s a rat. Used to be a human. Adopted me and my brothers, taught us ninjitsu.”
Leo’s paralyzed. He waits for the snickers, or for the punchline.
The turtle does not shirk away, eyes bright with the maniac look that Donnie gets when he proves a theory correct and is dying for a single person to acknowledge that he’s the smartest being on planet earth.
“So. Leo.” It’s conversational, calm, eager. “What’s your family like?”

Okay. So this was a time loop. On the absolute worst day of their lives. This couldn’t have happened on the day Lou Mike Tony's gave them free extra pizza?
“Mikey, you okay?”
He turned to see Leo lying on the Staten Island lot between Raph and Donnie, just like before. But unlike before, Leo’s eyes didn’t drift to his surroundings. They caught Mikey’s face and stayed there. He looked…horrified.
Mikey felt a drop roll down his cheek, leaving warmth trailing behind. He reached up to wipe it away. It stung. Mikey turned his palm to see it smeared with blood.
"Just a scratch.” Mikey caught his reflection and winced. And he’d thought Raph’s eye looked bad... But the sting merely highlighted a realization.
This didn’t happen last time.
As he glanced back toward Leo, who curled up with jagged breaths and eyes pinched shut, a determination settled in Mikey. Just like how they changed things for Casey’s timeline, the events of these time loops weren’t set in stone.
And Mikey was going to do whatever it takes to save his brother’s life.

He wasn’t too sure about all the parts in between, but that wasn’t for him to figure out. This was an incredible and foolproof plan. Which was good, since everyone always told Pet he was terrible and a fool.

Leo is recovering from his time in the prison dimension, but the prison dimension was built to keep the Krang confined, nothing else. Even Leo's brief exposure to the prison dimension was enough to make him realize this. -

The Techno drone wasn’t meant to be ever separated from its pilot. Yet Donnie forcibly got ripped out of it. But that never meant that the Techno Drone also got ripped out of Donnie. Or that the softshell’s parts all come back with him. What will a turtle do if he finds out that he’s partially Krang and that part is actually the majority of him?
Or the Techno Drone didn’t just Krangified, but straight up made Donnie 70% Krang. Of course with a species change comes some freaky new instinct, issues and body horror worthy transformations. Drowning in intense self hatred and fear of losing his brothers ( especially his twin) of course he tries to face all these challenges all alone.
Basically another Krang-Donnie AU, but trust me this is going to be a rollercoaster of very gory, very sweet and have a lot of made up Krang lore you never knew you needed.
