Hope was a dangerous emotion. Hope lead people to their own ruin, veiled the irreparable consequences of ones actions with a glittering fantasy. It lead the strongest to their own demise. Hope was a promise that could never be guaranteed but beguiled everyone who had a mere taste of it.
Hope was the reason Gary was currently walking alongside the replicas of his childhood friends, praying that it would fill the abyss the absence of his teenage years left.

On one level, they were his friends. Andy still had his thin-framed glasses rather than the thicker ones he changed to when he got older. Oliver still had the birthmark on his forehead, much to his displeasure. Pete still had a couple notches left for his voice to drop. Steven still aspired to be part of a band.
