When they were teenagers they looked at him like he was a king, Gary loved it. He loved being the leader. He felt important. Like he was someone, that he could be somebody.
They grew up, they grew away from him. His friends.
No matter what he does he can't get his shit together. Gary has tried. No one ever believed it. Mainly because him trying never lasted long for anyone to notice. He sobered up, looked in the mirror and saw a screw up, went back to drinking and taking drugs.
His suicide attempt wasn't a cry for help. He wanted to die. Gary wanted it all be over. He thought about his friends, his childhood friends. They were his brothers, they were his life.
Gary had damaged each one, he'd give anything to have a chance again. A version of them that he hadn't hurt. That believed in him.
