Gale and Astarion ponder the meaning of names and the people behind them. Both of them are absolutely terrible at communicating but they're getting there.
"Depending on who you asked, his name was either ironic or extremely appropriate. He knew his mother hadn’t originally planned to give him the name he ended up with, but fate combined with a thunderstorm decided that the original idea simply wouldn’t do. The more he reflected, the more his name often felt appropriate for his life - a whirlwind, pulling him every direction and making him disoriented."

"He kept the same routine: Awaken in the late morning, rise and eat a simple breakfast, return to his bed or study or library and read for hours, occasionally eat something sparse for dinner, spend some time staring at the hearth, go back to bed and sleep. Throughout the whole thing, his eyes remained dull, as if any light within him had been dimmed like an oil lamp. Every day, Tara had encouraged him to go out or speak to another person, to no avail.
After weeks of this routine, a rolled parchment arrived at the door. Few communications had been delivered to the tower, mainly concerning responsibilities or events from the local mage’s guild. Tara had sniffed the letter, which smelled of bergamot, rosemary, and faintly of brandy. Undoing the wax seal revealed a letter written in loopy handwriting."Gale is struggling. Tara reads a letter. A visitor comes to Waterdeep.

Summary
The sound that pulled him from sleep was different.
It was quiet enough that, at first, he mistook it for the wind. A thin, uneven breath came from the other side of the bed, followed by the faint rustle of blankets being clutched too tightly. Olruggio’s eyes opened to darkness. He lay still for several seconds, listening, before another breath caught sharply in Qifrey’s throat.
Then came a muffled sob.
Olruggio was awake at once. “Qifrey?”
Or...
Olruggio wakes up to Qifrey crying from pain he got from an injury in the past so of course Olruggio takes care of him as well as Brushbuddy of course. Queue the sappiness and fluffiness.

But that's just how he's always been. Olruggio had known that. Had chosen to chase the sour and melancholy boy down the hallways anyway. Wiggled and squirmed his way into the role of best friend, had learned how he ticks to such a degree it felt like second nature.
He knew that. And yet his chest hurt anyway.
Olruggio comes across something that threatens the quiet peace he's built with Qifrey.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, he's not about to let go so easily.

Summary
It was quiet, and when Olruggio’s head raised he saw that ever-present look on Qifrey’s face again.
The one where he looked hesitant, a little bit displaced, and so startingly unsure of himself.
“Olly, I’m...” he started, awkwardly trailing off as his hand traced to the top of his cap. “You know I don’t do too well with being... celebrated.”
He spoke the words as if the mere thought of it made him uncomfortable, his shoulders hunching up as he coiled that ribbon tight around his finger.
Olruggio reached between them.
“Of things worth celebrating,” he murmured, catching the ribbon with his finger and gently pulling it loose. “You being born is at the very top of my list.” He leveled Qifrey with a look. “Understand?”
Qifrey nodded slow as if in a daze, whispering out a hushed, “Yes,” as he watched Olruggio weave the ribbon between his fingers.
Or
Qifrey’s birthday comes around again, but this year Olruggio hoped to make it a bit more memorable.

Summary
“And my hands hurt!” Her voice cracks. She frantically tries to pick the glass up again. Qifrey struggles to grab her hands.
“Don’t- Agott-“ He said in a slightly panicked voice. “Sweetheart put it down.”
She pushes him away slightly and lets her hands fall to her knees. She sniffles and blinks back her tears but they fall nonetheless.
Qifrey takes a long look at her. Her sunken eyes, cheeks beginning to hollow, pale skin, panicked sweat.
