I got here from a gorgeous Tumblr fanart. This is such a fun concept, once upon a time I was confused as to why the fandom is so obsessed with Foxxian, but it just works, doesn't it? I really love this, the story is fun, catchy, well-paced and I really like the way you have written them a bit more like humans that can shapeshift rather than leaning very hard into the animalistic side. It's a personal preference, but it tends to make me feel a little uncomfortable when people lean into the animal side more heavily. I also really loved that you kept the cultivation world largely the same. 10/10.

The storytelling was perfect, well-paced, charming, captivating, melancholic and sad at times, but never ridiculously angsty. Not too long. either, I often find longer fics drag things out a bit too much for me, but this was fantastic. It had more than enough plot to warrant the word count. I'm also glad you didn't end things right as they confessed. I'm glad I got to see their lived together in the modern world, I would have happily seen even more of it.
I did wonder if there are counterparts to them in this world, so I was very very excited when Yanli and Jiang Cheng showed up. I did wonder if, given that Wei Wuxian was dead in this world, had Lan Wangji died in his? Was there a Lan Xichen in the modern China, whose brother had died?

“Man, it looks like we really are out of coffee,” Wei Ying (Wei Ying? Wei Ying?!) sighed. He turned to look at Lan Zhan. “What tea would you recommend to a — oh.” Wei Ying’s smile faltered a little once he got a good look at Lan Zhan’s face. “Hey, are you okay?”
Lan Zhan didn’t know what his face was doing, but whatever it was he couldn’t make it stop. He could hardly breathe. He just kept staring at Wei Ying, unable to make a move or a sound. When he got no response, Wei Ying gave an awkward laugh and tried to smooth over the situation.
“Oh man, how late am I today? Is it really that bad?” he asked, turning to look at the clock on the back wall. “Oh no way! I’m actually on time today!” He turned toward Lan Zhan again, the smile back on his face. “Is that why you’re staring at me? This is a shocking turn of events, I’ll give you that.”
Lan Zhan let out a short, choked sound.
Lan Zhan is shocked to his core when his former coworker — Wei Ying — walks back into the office one day, seemingly unaware of the fact that he’d been dead for three years.

Summary
Lan Wangji does not mean to return to Yiling.
Nothing grows on the Burial Mounds. In the natural world, grave sites are fertile ground for new growth, the decay of human bodies providing rich food for both animal and plant life, but the resentful energy of the murdered piled in their mass graves leeches life out of anything that tries to take root here.
But here is a tree, alive amongst all the husks, small and with sprouting leaves. It's not even the right season for sprouting leaves.
