When Monsters rise from the Underground, humans promptly lose the ensuing war. The Monsters quickly assert their dominance and humans are reduced to "Pets." However, while not quite paradise, various global conflicts have ceased as well as local concerns, like different crimes. Being a Pet isn't all that bad either, as there are laws put in place to protect you and Monsters rather treat you as a assigned worker than an actual slave. You still have to go to school until you are 19 and after that, you go to one of the Educational Pet Centers, where you learn all the basic rules of being a Pet, as well as choose a Specialization.
You've just graduated form the local EPC with a Specialization in Monster and Home Care, the most difficult, but impressive, Specialization a Pet can receive. As the only Pet in your class with this Specialization, this makes you an easy pick for your new Master, Sans. But, upon leaving, you notice the stares and whispers. Sans tells you that you are replacing a previous Pet that he and his brother had... "issues" with....
And it seems as if not everyone has moved on....

Jimin works hard at school and at his job. However, he is harassed brutally at his place of work, for his lack of status. Everyone presents when they turn sixteen. Except for him. The harassment takes a dark turn when his boss starts wanting special favours because he gives Jimin a higher pay check. Although Jimin doesn’t want to, he agrees. If he loses the job he can’t afford his part of the rent and it will put him, and his two roommates out on the street. He also has to deal with two others he works with who like to grab him inappropriately. To top things off, he presents as an Omega, the lowest of the low, putting an even bigger target on his back. There’s nothing he can do to keep the roof over his friend’s heads, but lay down with clenched fists.

Hanschen remembered what Moritz had said; That Ernst would be fine if he failed. Now Hanschen realized it was true. Ernst would have been upset for a little bit, but he would eventually be fine. He would make tons of new friends at whatever public school he was sent to, and he would hang out with the rest of the group on the weekends. Eventually it would feel like nothing had changed.
When he helped Ernst, he might as well have just shot Moritz in the head himself. It would have saved the other boy a lot of grief and effort.

His throat closed up and tears stung his eyes, this is not how his first respawn was supposed to go. It was supposed to be something easy, like fall damage, or poison.
Heart thudding painfully in his ears Tommy finally got his mouth to cooperate. “Look my friends are on their way and when they get here you’re fucked!”, but as soon as it was within hitting distance, the Pillagers sword swung.
Tommy felt almost as though the mob had smiled as it came down."Hi, I wrote this before the elections and then got busy. It is definitely terrible, but I got sick of seeing it sitting in my WIPS :0.

Also Tommy didn't die in the duel, it was a non-lethal shot. -

No, that was Ei’s fault. After all, she had created Rai. She had set up the rules Rai followed. And then, like the coward she was, she locked herself in the Plane of Euthymia, away from everyone and everything she loved. She shut her eyes and ears, and she didn’t hear the weeping, the pain, or the anger. So yet again, she wasn’t there when her people needed her. Rai had done what she was supposed to do, and Ei left her without supervision and without help.
