Summary
It had to be some kind of afterlife or complex hallucination to be back in the BAU conference room, one very dead Jason Gideon rounding the table with a decade-old case conversation on his lips.
Or: the one in which mid-prison arc season 12 Reid travels back in time to mid-addiction arc season 2 Reid and team, season 12 Reid thinks he’s hallucinating and is more or less helpful than he could be, in the meantime the team puts 2 and 2 together and gets 21, and somehow this still ends up changing the timeline for the better.
Featuring: an intervention for season 2 Reid, multiple collective heart attacks for season 2 team, and eventual healing for season 12 Reid.

Oh, I'm so embarrassed to post this. I was ashamed and ashamed to write it, and I'll be doubly ashamed to post it.
Anyway, I think the tags give you an idea of what it's about.
Just in case: Spencer is acting strangely and erratically. The team knows he's in the midst of a serious drug addiction, but that doesn't explain some things.

Summary
If only the BAU knew that Spencer Reid being nearly half an hour late to work one morning would cause everything to come crashing down on him. He wanted this day to be like any other, he’d told himself it would be. For months, he’d managed to convince everyone around him that everything’s fine.
But Aaron Hotcher is concerned; if not fed up with Reid constantly dancing around the subject of his own well being. Hotch isn’t having it anymore, especially not when one of his greatest agents is walking into the office looking like death warmed up.Hotch isn’t having it.
(Basically: this takes place during early season 3; it might be implied that Gideon passed away rather than retired, I can't remember if I actually wrote that part though.)

Summary
He took a shaky breath. Just looking at the vials reminded him of that shed. The smell of fish guts, burning wood and dirt. It was enough to make him throw up. But he knew once he did it, he wouldn't remember any of that. He wouldn't feel a thing but an all-encompassing sensation like he was wrapped in a warm, heavy blanket. He needed that feeling. He imagined that was how well-adjusted children felt, when their mentally stable parents tucked them tightly into bed.
He just didn't want to be afraid anymore.
OR
Dilaudid is Spencer's only solace, the only peace from the memories of the horrors he went through in that shed. However, his habit is getting increasingly harder to hide from the rest of the team, and one person in particular: Derek Morgan. When Spencer misses a plane for a new case, Morgan covers for him with the team instantly. But he won't let Spencer's dirty little secret go. He's determined to help—and to discover what Spencer has been hiding since the day they rescued him.
Trigger warnings in the tags. Be warned this fic will have explicit representations of possibly disturbing themes and events.

Summary
Whimpers filled the air. “How can I tell you that? That I am just a drug addict?” The words came out bitter. “I didn’t want those drugs. I didn’t want to be in this situation. I don’t want to be so angry.” He closed his eyes, the anger almost like a bitterness on his tongue.

Summary
Gideon watches him that morning from the corner of his eye. Loading up his coffee with enough sugar to rot, Reid moves through the bullpen like a ghost haunting the house. He’s sweating bullets beneath layers of cotton, his fingers fidgeting with his coffee mug in a way that makes it look like he might drop it if he doesn’t reach his destination soon. He finally puts it down on his desk and slumps into the chair. The actions seem to leave him breathless. Gideon knows these signs. He knows what the unfocused, blow-out pupils mean, he knows what the itching and the sweating mean… but to say it out loud could shatter any illusions Reid was still holding together.
~
Or, the one where Gideon is forced to realize his beloved protege might not be doing as well post-abduction and torture as he wants to pretend he is, and Reid is forced to realize his life shouldn't end on his own bathroom floor. -

Summary
Spencer had been ambivalent about February before joining the BAU. Ambivalent for his first two years on the job.
Ambivalent until February 7th 2005.
Now, Spencer's February ambivalence had been snatched away from him by three days in a freezing cabin.
Now, February was about survival.
One year after the events of Revelations. Spencer endures the first anniversary of his addiction as he's done with every other associated milestone, alone. Until a case brings everything bubbling to the surface and forces him to face his demons.

Summary
“Eighteen weeks clean. Four and a half months.”
The case with Hankel had been almost eight months ago; they can all do the math. “You were—” Morgan says, cutting himself off to collect his thoughts. “Three months. On your own.”
“Three months, two weeks, six days.” Spencer says it with a bite to his voice, because beyond his gratefulness for this conversation now, it was a long three months.
“God, we did nothing,” Emily whispers.
“You were protecting our jobs,” Spencer tries to excuse. It’s what he told himself so long ago; what he’s repeated to keep himself sane. You were protecting our jobs, so he doesn't stray towards, You weren’t protecting me.
The conversation that never happened, in short.

Summary
When a damaged Spencer Reid shows up to stop the ruthless killer terrorizing your small town, he doesn't expect to feel so inexplicably drawn to you.
Still haunted by his recent abduction in Georgia, he soon realizes you might be exactly what he needs to patch himself back together again.
You knew far too well that your town was never as safe or innocent as it seemed, and you had come to expect only the worst in your life, but you could never have anticipated becoming the unsub’s next victim
—————————————————————
Unlike him, these women must have thought they were in the clear. That they were safe now.
He understands all too well now that there is no such thing as rock bottom. It's a misnomer, both geologically and metaphorically. Every time you are sure you have reached the lowest point in your life, that you are at ‘rock bottom’, you find there’s another stratum waiting underneath for you to sink into. And another one after that. It's an endless descent through fault lines until you end up burning at the core of the earth.
You shouldn’t wonder if things will get worse, you should just question when they will.
