Fires dance around the burning streets of Troy. Antenor had always warned them to return Helen. Now it has been their downfall. Even as Odysseus and Menelaus march closer, he cannot help but laugh.
"You have returned! Welcome back to Troy, my lords. Don't you remember your gracious host?"

On the eve of the Trojan War, Odysseus and Menelaus were sent to Troy to negotiate the return of Helen to Sparta. They failed, and as a result, thousands would die.
It was an entire episode in the mythology, but most of its contents have been lost (except for a few allusions, summaries, and fragmentary plays). This fic mostly deals with this embassy, with some buildup on Tenedos and other Trojan War adventures of Odysseus. Of the known details, I may change some points.
A lot of political intrigue along with moments with Ody, his crew, and other heroes.
Unless noted otherwise, every character, even minor ones, is mentioned at least once by ancient writers.
(this was originally called A Panther's Skin, but upon further research i realized it would be more accurate to call it A Leopard's Skin. it will be relevant later.)

The Greek king meets the Trojan prince in the middle of the night, rain pouring heavily over both of them, as Hector names his price for the armor: Odysseus' body for a single night.or

Summary
After Odysseus made his way home, to Ithaca. He slaughtered the suitors, and fought Poseidon. It was a week later, however, Penelope noticed something...odd. When Odysseus said he wasnt the man he was before, she thought he meant how he thought he was evil. But throughout the week, she has been concerned for him. For gods sake, she needs to know what happened on the 20 year trip.
And when she does? Oh, she is going to beat the ever loving shit out of Calypso.

Erichthonius was a great breaker of horses, king of Athens and from the line of Hera, born of the earth and Hephaestus’s spilt seed flung to the ground in revulsion. It was almost funny, Erichthonius born of no woman, Hephaestus conceived of by no man, and Athena hanging over the shoulders of all three. Now here he was, - no woman, who conceived with no man, - having no body to inhabit alone.

Summary
Odysseus was finally back on Ithaca. After ten years of war, and ten years of fighting to get home, he was finally back. The kingdom celebrated greatly, with wine and feasts like a god themselves had come and blessed them. In a way, the gods technically had blessed them by bringing the king back home safely.
Barely six moons into his return, two into the celebration that would last gods knew how long, the queen and king came with news that changed Telemachus' life forever.
