As seniors, they were allowed to go on missions outside of Vale without a professor's supervision as long as the headmaster approved the job beforehand. They had to rely on one another to survive.
But it wasn't as exciting as Ruby had anticipated. Their adventures outside of Vale leads her to discovering something about a close friend she doesn't want to accept. Her denial puts a strain on her relationship with Weiss. As tensions rise, the truth slips free.
