With a single shoulder shrug, and a head tilt, Oscar was taking another sip of his tea. “Maybe. Or maybe they could take it as a challenge.”
Eyebrow raised, Lando also slowly placed his cup down. “A challenge? I don’t want to be someone’s project,” he muttered, crossing his arms over his chest and twisting to face Oscar more.
“I don’t mean like that,” Oscar assured gently, that soft smile back on his face. “I mean, don’t you think, if it were the other way round... if someone told you they were really struggling, that they were getting sensory overload to the point where they couldn’t focus on their pleasure, wouldn’t you want to make it your mission to find a way to help? Make it good for them? Help them block everything else out and keep their attention so solely focused on you and how good you were making them feel that nothing else could distract them?”
Lando is really struggling with his sensory overload. Maybe Oscar is the only one that truly understands, and will truly offer help.

Lando’s eyes snap open. "You did not invite your friend who uncontrollably turns into a giant to our fucking WG."
"I didn’t." he answers immediately, and Lando slumps into the chair from sheer relief. "He’s aware that in his… current conditions he shouldn’t travel. He’s not stupid, Lando, just desperate. But I told him about you."
"Me." Lando says flatly.
"Yes, about your research. And he would like to talk to you. See if you can help him figure out what’s going on with him."
"Me." Lando repeats again. "No. Why. Why?"

Lando's a folklore geneticist fresh out of his PhD. He bums around his shared flat in Berlin, goes on mental health walks, gets stoned regularly, and tries to convince funding bodies (and himself) that his research is worth supporting.
Oscar is a rising star in the world of motorsports who accidentally discovers himself to be the carrier of a previously unknown, but seemingly very dangerous Gene, which could easily end his career and potentially a few lives.
Fred, Lando's roommate and Oscar's friend, may have a solution to both of their problems. -

“Lando.” Oscar murmured. “It’s time to wake up.”As expected, there was no response.
“Lando.” He gently took his hand and squeezed it slightly. “Come on, time to get up.”
“No.” Came the childlike response as Lando rolled over to face away, eyes still shut.
Oscar smiled, watching as the Brit buried his head into the blanket.
“It’s like 8am.” Oscar replied. “Come on.”
A muffled grumble was his only response.
“I made pancakes.”
Lando’s head lifted from the blanket enough to reveal sleepy hazel eyes. He looked like a teddy bear all bundled up with those adorable eyes.
“You made pancakes?” His voice was husky from sleep.

They didn’t talk, but the break brought a relief from work, and Oscar had hoped that this was the turning point. But the truth was there, heavy and suffocating, sitting between them every time they sat side by side. Every time they thought about the summer break ending. Every time they lay in bed together, with no space between their bodies, but miles between their minds. Oscar felt it more than Lando, he felt the way Lando’s hand didn’t reach out to him anymore, the way Lando’s smile never reached his eyes, the way Lando’s kisses were fading, softening, disappearing. He felt the way he was losing him, slowly, quietly, painfully. And there was nothing Oscar could do about it other than watch.
Or, Lando can't handle the thought of losing to Oscar in the championship that he mentally breaks up with Oscar before getting the courage to do it in person, and Oscar falls apart in the process.

Whether it’s the beach, the cabins, or a sleepover in someone’s house, late night calls, or even stupid dares that’ll surely cause them trouble. They’ll always find a way to spend weeks together.
For everyone else, it was completely normal. Swimming, bonfire, watching movies, playing board games or Mario Kart, or just talking about past experiences — crushes, exes, or those embarrassing moments they had to deal with.
However, for Lando and Oscar, it was different. Especially this summer trip. They’ve known each other for years now. They’ve already memorized each other too well. Oscar knows Lando’s afraid of the storm. Lando knows when Oscar’s upset. Even if others won’t notice it.
