St. Jude Thaddeus: Catholic patron saint of desperate situations, hopeless cases, and lost causes
Jud periodically has this dream where he’s in a car that’s hurtling down the highway, weaving in between cars and swerving at sharp angles. He’s speeding towards an inevitable fiery crash. The obvious solution is to stop and try and gain control of the vehicle, but there’s a truck barreling behind him and he’s keeping ahead of it by a hair. Slowing down at all means an instant, devastating impact.
In this dream, he tries every solution he can think of. If he stops, the truck hits him. If he keeps going, he hits the median. He dies either way. Each way of dying is equally agonizing. He bleeds out while the car burns around him or he breaks his neck and punctures a lung, laying paralyzed while his lungs fill with blood.
The irony is that he’s at peace. No matter his decision, the end is the same. It used to frustrate him, but now there’s a serenity of things being out of his hands.
He’d told Langstrom as much before the man went to Rome and his face screwed up. “That’s not what I meant by surrender, Jud,” he’d chided. -

"Well, I lied," Blanc replied, calmly, "Your not staying here another minute." He simply wouldn't allow it. He had talked to Philip, his husband, about Jud other the phone last night. They both agreed. Jud shouldn't stay in Chimney Rock.
"You can't do that! You're kidnapping me!"
Blanc paused, considering. This probably could be classified as a kidnapping. He didn't care. "Too bad, Padre, you're not staying here."

In this fic Blanc just straight up kidnaps Jud after Martha's confession. We're gonna ignore Langstrom's existence (even though I love him) and the "one year later" thing. Helen and Marta will be in a relationship. Phillip and Blanc are going to have an open relationship. I stole this concept from a Tumblr post. Enjoy reading this I guess. -
