Summary
It's been six years since Dipper's and Mabel's first summer in Gravity Falls. This year, they're not turning 13, but 18 - and they've decided to spend yet another summer with the pack of the Mystery Shack and celebrate their adulthood. Everything seems odd and strange and weird in Gravity Falls as it always has been; the town has recovered from the damage of Weirdmageddon and finally no demonic forces are at play anymore.
Until Dipper, Mabel and Pacifica are out in the forest, monster hunting, and encounter a whiney blue triangle demon that immediately reminds Dipper of his old enemy Bill Cipher.
He introduces himself as "Will".
He cries and cries, very annoyingly - he gravely needs Dipper's and Mabel's help, but what they're really getting themselves into is something they only regret when it's too late...Series

When Stanford Pines' sacrifice destroyed Bill Cipher and forced him to call on the Axolotl, even his purely chaotic mind couldn't fathom what would happen next.
The Axolotl just said that he'd need to "absolve his crime" and take "a different form".
Why this involved him becoming a dumb magical bird with an even dumber power was beyond him.
But the real punishment came clear soon enough: along with being in an animal form, he now had to watch over the Pines twins of a different timeline.

It's been three years since Wendy Corduroy mysteriously vanished on the eve of the Pines twins' fourteenth birthday, and while some things in Gravity Falls remain the same as ever, there have been some significant changes.
Gideon Gleeful has returned from reform school, and he and Dipper are essentially besties now. Gid still practices magic, but only for good. He's also lost the powder blue suit and pompadour--although he still has white hair.
Dipper and Gideon have befriended a werewolf--Greyfang's granddaughter, Lexie.
Despite there having been no sign of Wendy since her disappearance, Dipper is still not over her--although he and his human-shaped dragon friend, Aurora, have been carrying on an...unconventional relationship. Aurora is ready to make things with Dipper official, and gives Dipper an ultimatum: by the end of his birthday weekend, he has to choose either the memory of a relationship with Wendy, or the reality of a relationship with Aurora. The decision is heartrending, because Dipper has never given up the hope of seeing Wendy again.
Just as he is set to tell Aurora his choice, something happens to derail things. Because this is Gravity Falls. Something ALWAYS happens.
