Chapter Text

It was a beautiful day as Seeley Booth ran in the park. The weather was nice for it being the beginning of June. As he was finishing up his last mile he let is mind wonder. This wasn't how he expected his life to go. His original plan? Play football in college. When a knee injury took that opportunity away he thought the army would be his next stop. Then during his first tour his shoulder was injured in a field training exercise so they honorably discharged him.

That is how he found himself in D.C. at 23 years old with not a clue on what he was going to do now. He wasn't sure why he chose D.C. but there was just something about it that drew him here. Now it was just him and Ollie. When he first moved here 6 months ago he was out walking one night. No where to go, no one to talk to. He didn't have anyone. Then he noticed Ollie. A brown lab puppy that someone had just left tied up outside. The sign read "Free."

"You don't have anyone either huh? Well we have a lot in common then buddy. Let's go home." After that Booth and Ollie were inseparable. Where Booth went Ollie went.

After finishing up it was time for their post run ritual. Right as Booth threw Ollie's frisbee he saw her. A beautiful woman with brown hair running towards them. He already knew how this was going to play out and there was nothing he could do to stop it. Ollie took off sprinting after his frisbee accidentally tripping the women. Booth took off towards them. "I am so sorry" he said as she was taking off her headphones.

He reached down to help her up, as their finger touched they both froze. Booth wondered if she also felt the spark that he did.

"Um that is okay, accidents happen" the stranger said as she brushed the dirt off her legs.

Just then Ollie ran up to the two. Booth was shocked to see that he tried to give his frisbee to the stranger. He usually didn't warm up to people easily. She took it without thinking twice.

"Hi there little guy, thank you" She said giving him sweet head scratches as she took the frisbee from him throwing it again.

"He's Ollie, I'm Booth… uh Seeley Booth but people just call me Booth" Booth said nervously rubbing his hand on the back of his neck.

"Temperance" was all she said back giving him a sly smile.

Booth wasn't sure what else to say or why he was so nervous. All he knew was he was staring at the most stunning eyes he had ever seen. He was usually a very outgoing guy but there was something about this girl and he didn't want to say the wrong thing. Just as he was about to ask her more questions she spoke up.

"Um well I should really get going, it was nice to meet you Seeley Booth" Temperance said giving him a small wave as she put her headphones back in her ears.

"Yes you too Temperance" He said giving her a smile and then she was gone.

As he watched her jog away Ollie came running back up to Booth. Why didn't he say anything to her? He couldn't believe he just let the most beautiful women he's ever met get away. Hanging his head he let out a sigh and headed home hoping someday fate might help them meet again.
