Chapter Text
Touya did go to bed after, but he couldn’t really sleep. Keigo did not join him.
It’s always overwhelming to sleep with someone for the first time, especially for someone like Keigo, so Touya didn’t hold it against him. He should have been more careful, maybe checked in with Keigo a few more times. He was generally more experienced than Keigo in that regard, so he’d probably never stop kicking himself.
Touya made oyakodon to share with Keigo, but his anxiety only let him take a bite or two before his stomach began to protest. It was fine, Keigo loved chicken anyway.
He left the kitchen, going over to the couch. Keigo was a lump beneath a thick, fluffy blanket. It rose and fell slowly with his breaths. It seemed like Keigo had slept well. Touya couldn’t help but smile. “Kei?” He called.
Keigo shifted under the blanket.
“Keigo, wake up. It’s morning already, you buffoon.” He reached out to shake Keigo, when Keigo suddenly rolled off the couch and onto the floor.
Touya burst into laughter. What an idiot. Falling face-down on the ground first thing in the morning. “Still falling for me?” Touya asked sarcastically. He crouched down to Keigo’s level. “You okay?” He asked genuinely.
Keigo scrambled to stand. Touya, still kneeling, looked up at Keigo.
Keigo’s face turned bright red and he walked away briskly to the kitchen. “Something smells good.” He said awkwardly.
Touya stood with a little groan, joining Keigo in the other room. “Yep.” He sighed, popping the ‘p’. “Made some oyakodon to help wake you up. It’s Monday, so you have to go into the office.” He handed Keigo his phone that had been abandoned on the nightstand.
The light buried itself in the crevices of Keigo’s face. His face fell slightly as he checked the time. “Shoot. Thanks.” He said.
“After you get off work, do you want to watch a movie or something?” Touya asked, dragging his chopsticks through his food. “Or maybe go hang out somewhere?”
Keigo winced. “Oh, I don’t know, Touya.” He scratched his neck. “I feel like I’m going to be tired from work, and I’d really rather just…”
“Sleep?” Touya provided.
“Yeah.”
They stood in silence for what felt like hours.
Then, Touya nodded. “Yeah, no problem. I’ll get out of your hair.” He smiled. “Don’t think you can get rid of me forever, though.”
After some more standing without talking or doing anything, Touya grabbed some saran wrap, using it to cover his own bowl. He shoved it in the fridge.
Keigo frowned. “You’re not hungry?” He asked.
“Ah… no, not really.” Touya said, looking away. “I’m sort of nauseous. Don’t worry, I’ll eat later. You can have my food for lunch.”
“Right.” Keigo cleared his throat. “Anyway, I’m going to start getting ready for work. You just… do whatever you want.”
Touya laughed. “I always do.”
After Keigo left for work, Touya went home. He could tell Keigo needed a bit of alone time. Plus, Touya probably should talk to his family, or whatever.
“Aw, my beautiful car!” Touya smiled upon seeing his beloved hunk of metal in the driveway where he’d abandoned it. “Did you miss daddy?” He pet his car.
He heard his sister sigh from where he had seen her when he approached the house. “Oh, I wish you’d greet us like you greet that thing.” Fuyumi sighed.
Touya laughed. “What, you want me to call myself daddy around you?”
“Not that!” She huffed, crossing her arms. She steadied her glasses. “Whatever, welcome back, brother.” She punched his arm. “Natsu said to give that to you for him.”
“Ouch. Okay, fair enough.” Touya sighed. “At least I texted mom, right? Come on, Yumi.”
Fuyumi laughed. “Let’s just go inside, okay?”
Touya followed her inside the house. He felt the usual knot of anxiety, made worse by how shitty he was already feeling.
“Look who’s home!” Fuyumi yelled to no one in particular.
Touya wrinkled his nose. “Is mom here?”
“Nope!”
“So why are you screaming the house down for two people!?” Touya flicked her forehead. “It’s not like there’s a party happening, dumbass!”
“Wahhhh!” Fuyumi whimpered, pouting and rubbing the throbbing spot. “I’m just excited, Touya. I feel like I haven’t seen you in so long. Have you lost weight?” She grabbed his wrist, but he yanked it back.
“I weigh the same.” Touya said. “I make so much food at Keigo’s, it’s like we’re living in a restaurant.”
Fuyumi sighed. “Yeah, but you don’t actually eat any of it.” She shook her head. “You make all of this beautiful food, and then you yourself eat garbage.”
Touya laughed. “Where’s the brat?” He asked, looking around.
“He’s meant to be studying, but I think he’s watching movies again. Could you go check on him for me, actually?”
“What? I just got back, and I have to tell the baby what to do?” Touya asked incredulously.
“Pleaseeee pleasee please!?” Fuyumi begged, making some weird face that Touya assumed was meant to be convincing.
“Anything, as long as you never make that ugly face again. Jeez.” He sighed, walking to Shoto’s room.
“Knock, knock.” Touya said in time with his fists rapping on the door.
“Who’s there?” Came the monotone response.
Touya pushed the door open. “It’s me, your brother.”
Shoto looked up from where he was seated on the floor. “It’s me, your brother-who?”
“Oh good, I guess school has taught you something.” Touya said, sitting down across from Shoto. “Knock-knock jokes.”
“Yes, but I don’t think that was a very good punchline.” Shoto said with a frown. “So what’s wrong?” He asked.
Touya froze. “Huh?” He said dumbly.
Shoto shrugged. “What’s wrong?” He asked again. “I don’t think you’d come talk to me for no reason.”
Touya felt offended on some level. “Yumi told me to.” He defended.
“Fuyumi has told you to many times, and you haven’t. You could always refuse.” He blinked slowly. “Well, unless you’re finally coming around to me. Do you feel particularly protective of me?”
Blegh. Touya made a repulsed face. “You wish. No, it’s about Keigo.” He said, the words slipping out.
“Is it to do with how you’re suddenly getting married, even though Keigo was dating that other woman for a while?” Shoto asked.
“Sort of, yeah.” Man, the kid was good. He must have been forming his own theories for a while. “Nothing you should be worrying about, though.” He ruffled Shoto’s hair.
“Have you spoken to her?” He asked. “About everything? It must have been sudden for her too.”
Touya pulled his hand away. “They broke up on good terms.” He said.
Shoto hummed. “Did she tell you that?”
“You’re just a kid, you wouldn’t get it.” Touya sighed. “Why don’t you stop stressing Fuyumi out and do your work, huh? Maybe I’ll watch a movie with you tonight if you focus.”
“Okay.” Shoto said, smiling.
Touya sat and watched his little brother work for a while. His mind wandered. He hadn’t spoken to Redi, of course. There was no reason to doubt Keigo. But, then again, had they really talked about Redi either? Did Touya even know how they broke up, or when? He worried his lower lip between his teeth. Maybe that was something to think about. Not now, though. He didn’t feel like facing Redi, honestly.
He swallowed thickly. This was all stressing him out really badly. Now that Keigo was taking a little Touya-break, Touya needed to go do the thing he always did when he was bored.
