Summary
***end of series spoiler, but I fix it so it's ok!!
Merlin refuses to accept the loss of Arthur Pendragon. After his death, he still brings him to the lake, but with the hope of resurrecting him. After his success, both he and Arthur are weak. With Morgana's servants still fighting and searching for Arthur, Gwen and Merlin agree that it would be safest for Arthur to disappear for a while. Both Arthur and Merlin aren't as strong as they used to be, but they ride off far away together (despite tensions stemming from Merlin's magic) to pass the time and regain their strength in secret.
Basically, Arthur's dream of running off and living on a farm with Merlin comes true, but he's still mad and confused about everything for a bit. They'll eventually work all of their shit out :)
