The Winter Soldier was also dead.
It's been months. Bucky should feel better.
But standing next to Percy on the other side of the police tape, looking over the tally of bodies that just keeps growing, he can't help but feel anything but dread.
The Winter Soldier was gone. But it was becoming brutally apparent that he was not the only ghost who had taken up clawing his way through innocents.

Danny’s looking at him like he’s crazy. His hair’s dried up into a mess of waves, and there’s some tomato seeds on the corner of his mouth. “You just bailed me out of jail. And you think this is a good idea?”
“I don’t have bad ideas, Fenton. And like you’ve just said, I have collateral on you.”
“So you’re blackmailing me into pretending to date you?”
Tim shrugs. “Or you could just sign the NDA.”

Danny's trying to recover all the shards to an entity's chalice so that it'll stop destroying the zone while tensions rise amongst his subjects- and trying to finish high school.
Tim's juggling his case load, his work as CEO, and does not have time to be embroiled in a sex scandal right now. If that means he has to pretend to date a very suspicious heir to a rival company, then so be it.
It's a mutually beneficial relationship. So what if Tim's becoming a little too intrigued by the illusive, powerful Phantom? So what if Danny can't stand the Justice League for leaving him to deal with all of Amity's problems when he was just 14? That's a superhero thing.
And their fake boyfriend has no clue that they're a superhero.

Summary
When one Jell E. McCormick shows up on Christmas Day on the Wayne doorstep, everyone does their best to go along with it. Weird shit happens all the time in this family; having a random new biological Bruce spawn isn't the weirdest thing that's ever happened. Even if the circumstances leading to them showing up on their doorstep are downright disturbing in a painfully mundane way. Mom dead from cancer, a rich uncle they're on the run from, just an everyday tragedy.
Still, everyone seems to understand. Jell E. McCormick is a civilian, and they need to keep their nightlife in check for the next five years so they don't find out, because absolutely no one believes that Jell is somehow capable of being a vigilante.
It's probably a bit too easy to forget that Jell may have a million things going on on their face, but, at the end of the day, they are still Bruce Wayne's child, even if he found out late, and it was probably a bit too short sighted to assume the child of Earth's greatest detective was somehow going to be slow just because they emote a little differently than most people.

Danny Fenton has no idea what he's been dragged into. The weird Scottish kid that showed up at the beginning of freshman year has dragged him off to Gotham with promises of meeting his biological family. Which, great. But, Danny can't help but hate him, anyway. It's really hard to be grateful to the person that put Amity Park under a blackout and kept you from calling the Justice League for help when you got sucked into another dimension, after all. Even if he was, like, thirteen when he did that, apparently. It's even harder to trust this Fionn Ainsley when he will tell Danny absolutely nothing about himself.
And now Danny has been adopted by the bats. Like he didn't have enough problems with the Fentons hunting him down like bloodhounds. He wants a nap.
