Though Geralt kills him again, Jaskier rises once more, confused and oblivious. He latches onto the Witcher as his bard, unaware that he carries some strange curse that won’t let him stay dead.

Summary
In books and songs, there are always clues that warn the audience that a great tragedy is about to occur. A spot of blood against the clean floor. A broken window, perhaps, or a darkened home. Their hearts would race with anticipation only to gasps as the true horror unfolded.
For Jaskier, the tragedy looked like this:
Two bodies moving awkwardly off the tumbled bedspread.
Dark hair tumbling over shoulders bared by a shirt that was far too large for a woman’s body.
Familiar scars left behind by a life of war joined now by a deep bruise along one collarbone in the shape of a mouth.
Yellow eyes meeting his with agony marring their depths—too much emotion to belong to the man responsible for the way Jaskier’s chest seemed collapse around the shards of his broken heart.

“You know how this ends.”
The bard swallows and summons up the mask of confidence better suited to wooing crowds. “One can only hope it includes an end to stupid questions.”
They jerk the chair he’s chained to backwards and tilt it until the only thing keeping it upright are their hands. Behind him, another drags the tub into place. He pants, struggling through the panic and the petty need to keep them from knowing that they’re getting to him. He knows it’s a losing battle.
“Last chance, bard,” the hated voice whispers into his ear.
He fills his lungs with the fetid smelling air of the prison and tries to find the resolve that had been enough to make him face Nilfgaard alone.
A sigh. “Have it your way.”
The water closes over his head.

Jaskier gets his soul mark at the tender age of 16, just like every body else.
He keeps meeting new people and hoping to find the one.There's a possibility that he's already met them, before he turned 16. Then the mark would appear retroactively, showing the words that were said weeks or years ago.
He'd definitely meet his soul mate again, it's the way destiny works with retroactive soul marks. It'll just be a lot harder to recognize your other half.When Jaskier meets Geralt, the witcher doesn't say the right words, yet Jaskier is just happy to be by his side, soul marks be damned.

Jaskier looked down and tugged on the front of his shirt as if he had to remind himself what was on it. He beamed at Geralt. “Yeah! Do you like it?”
“Not particularly.”
The smile swiftly disappeared.
“It’s not terrible,” he amended, stepping back to let Jaskier inside the apartment. Then Jaskier’s initial words sank in. “Wait. Yen did what?”
Hanging up on Yennefer was always a mistake.

Jaskier sits beside him. The soda can echoes as it cracks open. “So what next?”
Geralt looks over at Jaskier - at his dark hair, highlighted by the gold light, at the same light pooling in the dips and curves of his skin like honey. The ache in his chest starts, painful with its intensity. “Don’t know,” he says roughly.
Jaskier frowns. “We have to do something. We’ll run out of money eventually, and we can’t keep living on quick jobs and my parents’ credit card.”
Geralt hums. He doesn’t actually know what they’ll do, but he wants to continue this simple existence with Jaskier. Driving anywhere they want, spending a week in town and working, coming back to the hotel after their shifts and falling into the same bed together. Waking up with Jaskier’s warmth against him.

And a requirement of community service to retain custody of his daughter. At Ciri's urging he applies to volunteer for her favorite bakery, Buttercup Bakery, and meets the eccentric owner with eyes a color he's never seen before... until he walks outside and sees the color of the sky has changed from a dull gray to a bright brilliant blue.

“I’m sorry.” He barely could form the words through his clenched jaw, for some hidden (or just purposefully shoved away in the darkest pits of his brain) reason he didn’t want to let go of him now.
He hasn’t seen the bard in decades, but as he looked at him now, it was like nothing changed at all. Yet.
“Sure.” Jaskier nodded. “See you.”
The witcher closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath, trying to steady himself.
“What do you want me to say?”
“I don’t know. But a half-assed apology is definitely not it.”Or

Ciri looks at him expectantly. He holds her curious gaze and wonders. She’s asked about “his bard” once before. She believed when he said that they didn’t travel together all the time and sometimes took long breaks. Now, though, he can’t bring himself to make up some lie.
“I...I’ll tell you one day. But not today. Not soon.”
Ciri simply nods, accepting the answer. Clever girl.

After the mountain, Jaskier left. He didn't bother with Geralt of Rivia anymore and went to find his own way. Unfortunately, with a war on the horizon and Nilfgaard's pursuits of his ex-friend, danger looms heavily over the bard. He has an out though; a pill given to him by the very sorceress he can't stand.
When he is captured, he uses his last escape.
What he didn't foresee, however, was that the pill would grab onto the last things he had left: his memories.
