Summary
Evan Buckley has always been very good at keeping things in separate boxes. In one, Los Angeles and the 118 know him as Buck. In another, he's Boomerang, a highly-trained Navy SEAL. The two have never once touched.
For fifteen years, "I love you" has been quietly replaced with the promise to always come back. A habit older than his career as a firefighter and built by someone who loved him when he was young. Most people who have heard it don't pay it any attention.
A series about found family, the people who show up unannounced to love unconditionally, and what happens when a man who built his whole life out of walls decides to knock them down.

Summary
Before the outbreak, the Los Angeles, California area boasted a population of almost 20 million. It was the place where people came to make their Hollywood dreams come true, and it was also a collection of neighborhoods that had been attracting immigrants since a proto-advertising executive coined the phrase Manifest Destiny. The Z-War collapsed all those arbitrary divisions, as movie stars fought alongside their personal assistants and rival gangs banded together to fight a common enemy. The new City of Angels is smaller, quieter. Focused on supporting the rest of the West Coast Safe Zone.
Evan “Buck” Buckley is a large individual, although the way he hunches down in his seat in an effort to appear smaller makes it clear that he’s aware his size can be intimidating. He’s in his early 40’s, a smattering of grey hairs threaded through his dirty blonde curls and a collection of laugh lines and creases next to his eyes advertising his age, although his wide smile betrays how he earned those lines. He was a firefighter, in the before times, a hero. Now, he is something more.
