Ilya took another deep breath, “Please. I cannot fix it if I do not know. Is it because I was too needy?”
“No, it fucking wasn’t, Ilya!” Shane shouted, eyes shining. “There is quite literally nowhere else that I would rather be. I have moved heaven and earth to have you in my life. You make me. Do you understand that? Loving you makes me who I am. It is a privilege to be here when you are having a hard time. But oh my fucking god, I am so tired of you treating me like absolute dog shit when you get sad. It has to fucking stop."

He closes his eyes at 12:00 AM on the one-year anniversary of the accident, hoping that one way or another, he won't have to face another day alone. He wakes up in his Montreal apartment in 2016, grappling with a realized prayer: a redo.
Deciding to do things differently a second time around, Shane quickly discovers that a past he has already lived is surprisingly difficult to predict. Every choice he makes sends out unintended ripples, and no one is harder to read than Ilya himself, leaving Shane to question if his own rewritten steps are altering the man he died for.
