Summary
Eddie turned to leave as he made his steps towards the elevator, he could hear the apartment door click close and he felt the urge to cry. His eyes were welling up and he couldn’t place exactly what was making him feel like this. He rarely cried and now all he wanted to do was sit in the rain and cry and allow the raindrops to wash away the despair that was threatening to crush him.
Or
Eddie has to make sure that Buck is okay in the wake of all that has changed.

Summary
Reluctantly, Buck detaches himself from Eddie’s neck and lifts his head just enough for them to look at each other. Eddie’s eyes are dark even with the room bathing in sunlight, his pupils blown. His chest rises and falls at a quick pace, his cheeks flushed. Buck can’t help but lick his own mouth at the sight of Eddie’s kiss-bruised lips.
I did that, he thinks. A few months ago he hadn’t even known how to kiss Eddie properly for the first time, and now he can do this. Can leave Eddie looking completely disheveled with just his mouth and hands, the sound of his fast thumping heart loud in Buck’s ears. It makes his chest swell with pride.

Buck glances down (the best he can, anyway) at his inflatable green dinosaur costume. “Of course not, don’t be ridiculous. I took an Uber.” Without waiting for an invitation, he steps inside the Diaz home. After surveying the living room and hallway, he turns back around to face the elder Diaz, who nearly loses his hat (it does not go unnoticed that he looks incredibly sexy in a full-blown crocodile dundee costume) to the big green nose of Buck’s costume in the process. “Where’s Chris?”
Eddie chooses that moment to sigh.
“What?” Buck asks. “Why the sigh?”

He opens his mouth to say please tell me Eddie’s not dead, because he could never survive that but no sound comes out. Nothing comes out expect for his strangled breathing. It hurts to breathe, to swallow back the sobs, to try and tell her how much he needs to see Eddie.

Summary
Eddie isn’t sure when he and Buck started sleeping together. No, not like that. He tries to pinpoint when Buck started staying the night instead of driving home after Christopher fell asleep, but his mind comes up empty. It started out with the two of them dozing off on the couch after long shifts, waking up in the middle of the night leaning against each other before jumping apart as if they had been shocked. Then, they had started sleepily wandering to bed; staying on opposite sides just to wake up with the sun, tangled in one another. They stopped freaking out about it a while ago, moseying on with their mornings as if it was the most normal thing in the world. Best friends shared beds all the time — especially best friends who worked twenty-four-hour shifts together and more often than not found themselves too tired to drive.
Everyone has seemed to realize that Eddie and Buck are together. Everyone except for Eddie.

Thankfully, Eddie’s managed to pull himself together by the time Buck comes skidding into the doorway, Christopher over his shoulder. It’s such an entrance that Eddie’s stunned for a second, and his eyes lock with Buck’s before he breaks down laughing.
It feels good to feel such pure joy.
“We were gonna walk but Christopher was so excited to see you that he insisted I carry him and run here — and I wasn’t really gonna deny him the opportunity to see his dad as quickly as possible,” Buck explains, a little out of breath as he lowers Christopher down to the ground.
“Used his puppy dog eyes on you, didn’t he?” Eddie teases. “You’re too easy, Buck.”
“Yeah, well, I already accepted that I’m not immune to the Diaz puppy dog eyes a long time ago. I’d do anything for you two.”

Summary
It’s relaxing for them both and honestly besides Eddie and Christopher, Buck pretty much considers Taylor his best friend.
He doesn’t necessarily mean to keep their friendship a secret, he’s just grown accustomed to considering their hangouts his time and he doesn’t really want to share it. Still, he’d assumed he’d told Eddie that he hung out with Taylor, which is why he’s not expecting Eddie’s reaction when he brings it up at work to be Eddie dropping the bowl he’d been cleaning.
“Taylor Kelly?” he asks, surprise clear in his voice as he picks up the bowl and starts rinsing it all over again.

Or, Buck and Taylor are chaotic friends who fake an engagement to get free food and Eddie can't figure out why he's so pissed that Taylor and Buck are friends.

Buck doesn’t come in.
Behind him, the Jeep is parked on the curb. Eddie can make out the shape of someone in the passenger seat. It takes him a moment to place the dark hair, straight instead of the curly way he’s used to seeing it. Maddie’s slumped against the window with a hand over her face, shading it from the harsh morning sun.
Eddie’s not oblivious, he knows something’s been going on with Maddie, just no details, Chim playing things close to his chest. But now, Buck’s whole posture screams on edge, hands shoved deep in his pockets and hunched as he half twists to look back at the car again— at Maddie— as though they both might disappear at any moment. The toes of his sneakers rubbing over one another. Buck still has the car keys in his hands.
“Buck.” The wave of gratitude Eddie had felt on seeing Buck has pulled back, replaced by another wave, freezing cold and raw salt against his skin. “What is this?”
