Dear Eddie,
You probably have a lot of questions. I’ll get to answering them later. But first, let me paint you a picture.
Imagine a little child, growing up in the depths of suburban Pennsylvania. They have no real friends, only their older sister. They have plenty of toys that were once said sister’s, including a collection of Barbies.
Among these Barbies is a singular Ken. The child pays special attention to him. While their parents are wondering why the child isn’t obsessed with changing the Barbies into a thousand and one dresses, they take a pink marker and draw a birthmark on the side of Ken’s left eye. They keep Ken hidden from everyone else and only bring him out when no one’s around, to look at him long and hard, mesmerized.
If you haven’t guessed yet, I am that child.
____OR Buck just wants to finally have an established partner in field at the 118. He doesn't expect the new hire to be the guy he'd dated back in college, before he dropped out and came out.

Summary
After spending a night reading a romance novel with a firefighter as the protagonist, Buck can't help but notice the lack of information about the firefighting part so he decides to write his own story for fun; just for him. But when have things gone as he expected? A year later from that night, Buck first novel is being published and soon it's a best seller, which is good except for the fact that he except for the fact that he's been writing part of his life story—under other names, but ultimately it's him and everyone else around him—. Now Buck has to feign ignorance while everyone talks about his book and find not only the time to write the sequels but also to invent more excuses to avoid being found out.
And life keeps going and thing keep happening to him so more books yey! his agent is happy, his bank account is fuller than ever and his crush on Eddie is more evident everyday.
