MAJOR DIVERGENCE — Todoroki!Izuku. Izuku inherits a fire quirk from his DAD Endeavor, and is taken away at age five, he lives with the Todoroki’d after that. Who just recently lost their mom after the Kettle incident. It’s pretty angsty, not whump though. Izuku is trained, not by Endeavor like Shouto is, but he trains his quirk nonetheless. Which he calls ‘Styx Fire.’ A lot of the quirk remains mysterious, but it can burn anything it touches (if he wills it to), and is a stockpiling quirk like OFA, except, it has a smaller pile, and thus, is limited.
THOUGHTS — Favorite! But still in the early stages so that may changed. The Todoroki’s just started UA. Baku just entered the picture too. Izuku here is a little OOC because of his changed experiences. He’s not quite Shouto levels of apathetic, but he’s a lot more quiet, a lot less driven. That doesn’t mean he’s reactionary tho. He does have things he wants, and things he doesn’t want. Which is great! My fav part about this fic is definitely the character development. Everyone has real personalities, real struggles, real desires, real goals, etc. Very well done! The writing is pretty good too! Not the easiest to read sometimes, a little on the vague side, and thus can be kind of confusing. But I think that’s purposefully done for the most part? It just gets a little difficult when the author is describing like Izuku’s quirk attributes, for example, and I have no idea what’s going on LMFAO. It lends some mystery and suspense to the overall tone of the story tho, which is always nice.
Highly recommended for those looking something canon but not the same! Already, there are major changes taking form behind the scenes, it’s all a very slow build from here, I assume. The author is quite long winded (not that I mind, I actually like the added depth it gives), but it does mean that the pacing of the story is glacial, to say the least.
Would read this again! But perhaps not often?? I think I want to wait until it’s further along. It’s quite sad 😞 so idk if I can handle the angst all the time.

IDENTITY PORN — Canon!Jim works on the side as a scientist called Dr. Kirkpatrick. Publishing his work with the utmost secrecy. Work that Spock is very much a fan of. They start writing to each other. And Jim gets in over his head with identity porn shenanigans.
THOUGHTS — Short and sweet. Nice read if you’re looking for something that explores the deep intellectual bond between Spirk. The identity porn was an interesting, albeit probably unecessary aspect, that just makes things more fun.

MAJOR DIVERGENCE — with AU Elements. Spock runs into trouble before he is sent back to Earth to become an instructor at star fleet academy. It triggers something in him that is explained further down the line. But, in the meantime, he grows infatuated with Jim after a chance encounter that led to some hot and sexy times. He denies any them getting together because he fears how much Jim makes him loss control.
THOUGHTS — For a moment there. I thought that Spock’s illogical refusal to just get together with Jim was annoying 😂. Turns out there is a reason for it. It just doesn’t come into play until much much later. Overall though. I rate this fic as a good read. It’s well written. Structured kind of clumsily. Or maybe I’m just not a fan of how drama played out 🤔 (especially near the end.) idk to be fair. I wasn’t really paying that much attention to the fic because of my initial annoyance. So I don’t know if I’d like it better the second go around. We’ll see. I’ll pick it up another time for a more comprehensive review.

SEASON 4 REWRITE — Cas replaces Anna’s role in S4. But had a little bit more going on for him than she did. For one, he’s been having mysterious dreams about Dean his whole life. And, of course, there’s the handprint on Dean’s shoulder that is a complete match to his own. This fic pretty much takes it all the way through S4. Expect a lot of time skips. Since this is romance-centric.
THOUGHTS — Good read overall. Might even consider it a great read! It’s very close actually. It’s well written and I like the premise. It’s just that the romance is not particularly to my taste. Nothing wrong with it really, just that my cynicism and sadism 😂 likes a little more angst and conflict than this. Like not much drama, but this fic is pretty close to insta-love (it is that on Castiel’s side and practically that on Dean’s.) It’s also a lot more sexually-driven than I expected too. I mean, nothing wrong with that. But a big chunk of the story’s more descriptive and drawn out scenes are definitely the smut scenes.
So yeah, overall? While I was surprised that I ended up liking the fic a lot more than I thought (it’s a fix-it, but the unique plot twists do make things more interesting than the usual fix-it’s), the story has certain things going on that im not particularly a fan of. Won’t stop me from reading it again one day though! Actually, I have a feeling I’d lovd this more next time I’m feeling up romance vibes.

INFATALISM — (<- I think that’s what it was called anyway.) This fic was recommended to me as a GEN fic that they described as “acquired taste.” I have to agree 🤔 Age Play isn’t really something I’m interested in. But the way the author mixed up what we know of Canon Nephilim lore is pretty interesting. Definitely out there as far as AU Elements go LMFAO (Imagining either Uriel or Zachariah as soft for the Winchester makes me want to laugh hysterically), it’s unique and not something I’ve seen before. Anyway, the main premise of the fic is that Sam and Dean are nephilim and the angels prioritize caring for them (to a very serious degree) versus the apocalypse.

CASE FIC — Didn’t read the extras so bookmarking this only. This is a case fic set in Afghanistan. John is still working as a soldier. And Sherlock has been assigned to a case that has involving several people having been brutally murdered in the midst of war. It turns out it’s a lot bigger than even initially expected.
THOUGHTS — Great read! Highly recommended for the realism (or just the worbuilding elements, really.) I also like John and Sherlock’s chemistry here (the relationship progressed pretty quickly, a bit too quickly, I mean, which I was honestly a bit leery of, but crazy things do happen when you’re living like every day’s your last). Things get a bit smutty… or like a lot 😂 I skipped most of that and enjoyed the imagery and the sharp characterizations instead.
In this fic is a John that we never really got to meet. Canon!John is tough and brave, but he’s also a bit worn down. This John is still fighting the good fight. He’s confident in a way that Canon!John is not quite able to pull off completely anymore. Or at least, not as easily as this John is capable of. And he’s placed in an equal footing with Sherlock’s brilliance — providing a more steady foothold for their burgeoning relationship. Sherlock, meanwhile, is unashamedly himself, but he grows in the war. And it’s quite beautiful to see (I agree with John wholeheartedly about that 😆).
The other characters were pretty good too. What’s odd is that they aren’t really given much attention. Not as much as Sherlock and John at least. And yet they all managed to wriggle their way into focus anyway. That was very well done of the author. They certainly succeeded in making every character matter. Until they, like the environment the author painted, leapt out of the page!
All in all? Great read for the case fic elements and the JohnLock chemistry. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this for a romance. There is that, but because of the urgency, the relationship is more sexually driven (there’s just no time for that slow burn romance, ya know?) Highly recommended for the worldbuilding. That was aces in this fic. And I’ll definitely want to come back to see it again in the future.

TIME TRAVEL — Mostly crack but takes itself pretty seriously at some points. The premise is that Yuuri keeps going back into the past. Everyone stays the same but he is different. This time around, he comes back at the same age age as Yuri. He makes it work tho 😂
THOUGHTS — Fun! Kind of confusing at first. The author’s stole is very 🤔 abrupt(?) at times. But it fits the mood of the story, so it makes sense. Just took some time to get used to. The premise is great tho! I always love time travel fics that take a major divergent route, and this is that to THE NEXT LEVEL! Unfortunately, it doesn’t end off at a very good place. Like it’s not sad or a cliffhanger or anything, but not much is resolved… 🤷🏻♀️ So if you really really want to avoid unfinished fics, this is probably one to stay away from. I’d say read it anyway though. Especially if you like time travel fics. The humor in this one more than makes up for the unresolved stuff. And the Yuuri&Yuri rivalry is cute! And its insightful too. The whole Victor being jealous thing about Yuri having a rival was 🥲👌.
All in all? Would read again. I’m not sure if the author ever plans to come back to it. If they do, I’m definitely going to read it. If not, I still will!

MAJOR CANON DIVERGENCE — Rather than coming back as Mo XuanYu. WWX is anchored to the earth as a ghost. He haunts the Lotus Pier, and meets Jin Ling. Even beyond death he’s very giving and kind. He offers Jin Ling his companionship, and even goes on to train him (an act that gains the attention of Sect Leader Jiang and LWJ!)
[Focused on establishing bonds and developing characters! Angst Level 4. It’s pretty angsty!)
THOUGHTS — Great read! The writing style is not usually my thing. I have a hard time focusing when the prose is all purply. But it does match the story really well! So that’s more of a nitpicky thing (which I note here do that I can go in prepared next time, and enjoy it even more than I did now) rather than any actual criticism. What I can say is that I loved the characters here. It’s a very character-centric fic, actually. [Main casts are WWX, Jin Ling, Jiang Cheng, LWJ, and Mo XuanYu!] All the characters had their own struggles, their own goals — it was very well done! All in all? I would definitely read this again one day!
It’s very unique. And the premise was solid! I also commend the author for taking such a divergent take. They definitely didn’t shy away from making the story theirs! It made for a very exciting read.

CHARACTER STUDY — More of a character study than a fix-it. Follows the canon timeline too closely to be majorly canon divergent too! So, it’s about WWX and LWJ. Their life during the war and after their war, but with a twist! There’s ABO dynamics in the background to shape certain relationships differently and allows WangXian to progress more urgently.
THOUGHTS — I’m not going to lie, I read this immediately after waking up four hours earlier than I should have. Then I slept again and woke up to read it at the proper time 😂 Because of that, I don’t think I understood what the point of the story was. It felt all over the place for me. I kept reading anyway because I’m stubborn and starting from the beginning was just too much work LOL
But yeah, I have no idea what the point of this story was. It’s not really a romance, it’s the characters stubbornly refusing romance, I guess? WangXian had things to work through, and it takes them ages because they’re dorks, but also because they’re young and growing up is what they do. There’s external plot in the form of the war and the political intrigue as well. But that’s mostly a side thing. The focus is on the development of the characters over time.
All in all? I consider it a nice read. I didn’t give it the honest chance this time around because of my stubbornness though 😆 So I’ll come back to read it again another day.

MAJOR CANON DIVERGENCE -- Shen Yuan still transmigrates into SVSSS canon. Except, this time, he's a Shixiong rather than a Shizun. Specifically, he ends up being LBH's childhood bully, Ming Fan. It still follows a lot of SVSSS canon but, of course, as a different character, SY has different challenges ahead.
[MainPOVCharacter!SY. Canon Rewrite. Angst Level is at a 3-4 ish? It can get pretty heavy, especially in the more recent chapters. But, it does have it's lighthearted moments too.]
THOUGHTS -- Ahhh I was really hesitant to read this, ngl LOL I didn't realize that SY would be playing Ming Fan and was wondering wth it was the primary ship FWLKALFKA. It's cute though! As Shixiong and Shidi, Shen Yuan and Luo Binghe have a more natural friendship-to-lovers journey ahead of them. It also opens up the opportunity to see characters in a new light (without the SQQ bias). I thoroughly enjoyed the Immortal Alliance Conference too (despite the arc not being finished yet, technically) because usually we're very separated from it (with SQQ coming into the picture close to the end -- and for some reason, authors tend to avoid showing LBH's POV of it so fjwlafkwlajf].
All in all? A great read! I would probably wait for it to be a little further in knowing what's ahead -- wait before coming back to reread I mean. I think the last update was in 01/21? hopefully the hiatus is not permanent!

MAJOR CANON DIVERGENCE — SY!SQQ is killed after meeting LBH post-abyss and ends up in a female mushroom body. He’s dragged into the mess by GYX and LQG, and somehow ends up on a mission to resurrect ‘himself’ (or SJ, rather, who is hanging around LBH’s dreams).
THOUGHTS — Great read! Shows a lot of promise! Idk how long this is meant to be, but it’s been pretty tense for a while because this is focused on the climax of the story. Guess we shall see. I’ll wait a few chapters before hopping back in.

MAMAJIU — Shen Jiu centric~ ABO Elements. SJ is an omega, and after a dalliance with a female alpha, he ends up pregnant and with child. This story starts after he gave birth, and carries him through the journey of accepting his baby when, at first, he had insisted to himself that he should just get rid of him.
THOUGHTS — Ahhh very welll done!!!!! This is a great Shen Jiu fic and a great MAMAJIU fic accordingly~ I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this fic, and the future expansions that could potentially come out of it is equally promising! Suffice to say, I’m loving it and will be coming back to reread it again.
