Tommy can see figures in the woods beside the orphanage, figures no one else can. The older kids make fun of him for his foolishness, until a stunt they pull leaves him alone in the forest to finally confront the figures that haunt him. But maybe this time, Tommy couldn't be more grateful to be left behind.
This is a songfic, I know that it's slightly annoying but I hope it vibes. Each chapter has a different song, and the title is from "Ghosting" by Mother Mother. I have fallen into the pit that is their music and if you see more song fics from their music you know why.

“Well why should I trust you?” He snarked as the other’s grin twisted into something more devious.
“Well why should you trust Phil? We’re both equal strangers to you, aren’t we?” The taller man hummed, tapping away at a typewriter that made flute noises with each button, “Unless you’re chicken?”

Tommy was frozen is pure terror, eyes dilated in fear. The figure spared him one last glance before disappearing from sight, like he was never there in the first place. Still, he didn't dare to move. Distantly, he could hear the sound of pounding footsteps and someone shouting his name.
Suddenly, he felt a chill along his spine again, but it wasn't threatening like before. This cold was comforting, like someone was rubbing their hand in circles along his back and he let his breath hitch. Somehow, he could almost feel a second presence in the room, standing by, unsure of itself.
A figure appeared in the doorframe of the cellar and Tommy nearly cried in relief.
"Tommy!"
"Tubbo!"
The brunette fell to his knees by his friend and clasped his face in his hands, looking him over in worry.
"What happened?!"
"I- I just wanted to look at the sword..." he stammered, and Tubbo's eyes locked onto the blade, cast aside on the floor.

The potato war came and went. Techno won, not by fighting, but by watching and farming and cultivating life until sheer numbers overwhelmed his adversary. When everything was said and done, he remained, trying to find a purpose amongst the massive fields of his island. He went back to working the fields underneath an unassuming sky.
Turns out, not leaving the island and waking up one day to find his communicator broken starts an unforeseen chain of consequences; no updates from the subworld to the parent server, and the whole island ends up noted as idle and gets put into the server's storage instead of being counted as a regular inhabited island. While Techno's still in it.
This...causes massive problems.
