Summary
A singular variable can change the entire course of one's life. Two emotionally constipated teenagers learn this the hard way after years of distance from the one person they'd never learned to let go.
This is the story of a girl Natsume met at a young age. A half-youkai who has known and experienced loneliness and persecution from both sides of the worlds Natsume knows and learns to love. What if Natsume had a childhood friend who understood his experiences and treated him with such kindness and familiarity that he spent every moment they were apart wishing he could see her again?
This story is as much of a romance as it is a character study into how both Natsume and my OC would navigate and experience love and being loved. The line between platonic and romantic love is a fickle thing.

So what? Takashi didn’t say. That could be seen as rude. He tied his words into something more polite, more articulate. “I’m sorry. I don’t think I understand.”
The stranger just gave him an even more perplexed look, as if Takashi’s confusion in itself was a conundrum. “So… did something happen? You seem… I don’t know. Lost.”
Takashi tried to laugh, even though it wasn’t funny. It was a poor attempt at a nonchalant chuckle, the type that older men gave him when they were uncomfortable and wanted to politely excuse themselves from conversation with a crazy kid. Yes, it was true, in more ways than one."
