Jennifer Logan and Nick Valentine may have solved the mystery of what happened to his original human self, but the Institute is still the boogeyman of the Commonwealth and there's still a kidnapped infant to find, so the fledgling couple is once again off and running. But as the adrenaline of the wasteland fades into quiet, candlelit spaces, they quickly realize that the hardest thing to navigate isn't a cold case. It's each other.

Whilst travelling through Boston, a third-gen synth stumbles upon the entrace to a pre-war bunker, and tries his hand at finding something worth trading at his next stop, provided he isn't shot on sight. You see, he always works alone, he finds it easier that way, and he'd rather not stick around and face betrayal when they figure him out.
Perhaps more fortunately, what he finds is not a typical treasure, but might just cure his loneliness, and give him a purpose beyond the road. If someone asks, however, he might just say that he still works alone, but we all know that it's a lie. The child clinging to his back might just be an indicator.
