Jamil Viper was a servant, forced into their system by birth. Kalim Al-Asim was the one born to profit off his labor. But Kalim, was a fool. He refused to abide by the rules they’d all learned a long, long time ago. He wanted more than a guardsman or attendant. He, the stupid boy, wanted a friend.
Jamil thought him dumb, but could only add that to his list of responsibilities. That's all it was supposed to be.

When a nine-year-old Jamil Viper first met Kalim Al-Asim, he was given one command above all else: treat Lord Kalim as your god.
Jamil thought it was figurative.
He was wrong.
Kalim isn’t some “secret heir” that was hidden away until now to protect him from assassinations and kidnappings. He’s a deity. An ancient god who saved the Founder of the Asim Family from dying in the desert and is the reason for their endless wealth now.
Kalim is The Oasis Maker. His unfathomable magic can make it rain gold just as easily as water.
But despite being able to defy the laws of reality itself, Kalim is mentally just a child – a sneaky runaway from the heavens who just wants to play in the mortal realm.
To do so, Kalim must have a human anchor to keep him tethered to this world.
Unfortunately, he chooses Jamil.

Jamil rescues him.

Kalim decides he's going to set Jamil free, but an impromptu meeting with their parents to discuss the overblot speeds the process up. It also happens to make Kalim snap in a way he never expected to snap at his own mother, but at least he knows Jamil is free and the Viper family is safely protected and can be freed as well under the Al-Asim name. Now, now he just has to stop worrying Jamil while he moves to his new dorm, and everything will be okay.

When Jamil falls into a coma due to a failed suicide attempt after learning that he is expected to be trapped as a servant forever, Kalim seeks to create a better world for Jamil to wake up in.
The trouble is, to do that Kalim would need to train under his father to become the next head of the Asim estate. Without Jamil’s guidance and plenty of old-fashioned traditions standing in his way, it proves to be quite the daunting quest.
With the aid of friends, determination, and new found maturity, Kalim works to become an heir worthy of inheriting his father's fortune and the friend Jamil always needed.
