It's been fifteen years since Dan and Phil decided to adopt children. After Dan and Phil got married, they felt like they were ready for joint fatherhood. Their YouTube careers were still going strong, and they treated uploading just as any other job. Out of respect for their kids, they did not post their children or give away any private information about them online. However, now each child is in their teens, with the oldest being seventeen and the youngest being fifteen, so whatever they chose to post online was completely up to them. But Dan and Phil still did not include their children in their public YouTube videos. Posts about their children were reserved for extended family and very, very close friends they could by trust.
Their oldest is a brown-eyed blonde girl named Beau, who is fairly popular in school and is on the cheer squad. Their youngest is a nonbinary teenager named Bailey. Bailey is brunette and has striking blue eyes. Bailey isn't athletic like their sister, but musically-inclined. Despite not being biologically theirs, each child bears a resemblance to each father.

The Golden Pig is a nice enough ship; it's not one of those huge cruise liners that hold thousands of people, but it's smaller and more intimate and Dan actually feels like he has made more connections on this trip than he would have on the more typical Royal Caribbean cruise he usually works on.
And yet, despite being friendlier with his fellow crew members on this voyage, Dan can't help but sequester himself to a corner during the post-cruise after party for the crew now that all of the passengers have disembarked. He's feeling a little shy, and maybe a little uncharacteristically bummed at the end of his contract, and instead of taking advantage of his last night on the boat, he's moping and nursing his third drink by himself.
