Gentle fingers rubbing salves onto his burns and bruises, so lightly that the pain never overtook the relief. The cloak being draped over him, shielding him from the night’s chill, its fabric thick and still infused with another body’s warmth. The most warmth Lucanis had had since he’d woken up in the Ossuary…Mierda, he must have spent far too much time in Venatori hands, if such small gestures were affecting him this much.
(Or: Lucanis and Rook don't start off on the right foot. Only, Rook might not despise Lucanis as much as he suspected, and the Crow might be taking a fancy to the surly Shadow Dragon, too…)
