As far back as Harry could remember, a part of him had always frightened him. A part that was too cruelly free, too corrosive. He had learned to lock it away, to deny that side of who he was. To please a single person. The only one who still mattered. Peter. His walls had held, year after year… But it’s never healthy to deny an entire part of yourself. Sooner or later, even the strongest walls begin to crumble.
Harry was never the heir Norman wanted. Too unstable, too sensitive, too... human. A dreamer like his mother, nothing like his scientist father. So Norman did what any good father would do: he tested the serum on his own son, to prove to the military that it was viable on human subjects. After all, his son had to be good for something, someday. But there are things science should never dare to create. -

Harry almost immediately began to shake, a sob escaping his throat before he could clamp his hand over his mouth. At some point his other hand found Peter's, holding it securely. Peter held him tighter, cheek pressed against the back of his neck. "I'm sorry." He repeated, voice wavering, knowing he could never truly apologize. He could feel every sob that wracked Harry's body as they lie there in the dark. He'd never seen him cry like that; he'd barely seen him cry at all.“

Most superheroes are corrupt and unhinged, treated as celebrities by the government because of their ties to the entertainment industry. Spider-Man is a morally ambiguous vigilante, killing villains. Tony Stark is a narcissistic, psychopathic mastermind, reveling in his power over others. But the real threat? It’s not him. As the Resistance grows, the key question remains: Are there any heroes left who haven’t been completely consumed by the twisted, perverted lifestyle of the superhero elite, or are they all just fucked?

Chasing this impossible ideal that his father carved into his mind. This is lovable. This is what makes you a Osborn. It was always out of reach. But Peter hyped him up. Made him feel like enough. So, it’s hard to get jealous.
Except those times… when Norman shows this unabashed admiration for his best friend. The kind he never shows to him, nor anyone. It feels taunting. What kind of cruel joke is this?
It wasn’t until Peter stopped showing up to his house that he began to ask the question: how are healthy adults supposed to act towards teenagers?
And what if this paternal affection he envies isn’t paternal at all?

The Riddler halts. Pauses.
“What the fuck, dude?” He finally exclaims, breaking all melodramatic pretenses and slamming his hands down on the table, “Either listen to the goddamn riddle or let me kill you so we can get this exchange over with!”
Peter nods, “Sorry, sorry, my bad on that one. I finally remembered the word I was thinking of. Here, let’s make a deal this time - cross my heart I’ll keep it - so if I can’t solve your riddle you get to…” Peter gestures, leaving it open ended, and the Riddler seems to perk up.
“Kill you in a blaze of glory,” he finishes, primly, and the melodrama returns as he crosses his legs and re-steeples his hands, “And if you win? I must be fair, after all.”
“Uhh… would you mind telling me where I am?”
OR
Peter's greatest enemy is time management and also maybe the hoard of superheroes that are crawling all over Gotham.
(The Amazing Spider-Man version of Peter Parker - don't have to watch the movies to understand, but there are references to the films.)
