Chapter Text
Stark was once again hosting an event to show off his latest invention, and since the other avengers were out of town, he needed some extra help keeping his tower safe. That's where Fury's teenage superhero team came in. They would be there to help Tony incase a bad guy broke in(Tony thought he was capable by himself but Pepper convinced him).
The place was bright and full of people. Fancy people. Iron Fist was unable to attend due to him being needed at the event as Danny Rand. The team was glad that he wouldn't be COMPLETELY defenseless because they would be able to keep an eye on him. They just hoped nothing bad happened though, since it would be nice to have a relaxing evening at Stark Tower.
Peter wondered if the whole team felt that way. He sure did, because being Spiderman sure is tiring. Maybe the universe was FINALLY giving him a break.
"Hey guys, do you know what Stark is showboating about tonight?" Peter asked the group.
"I heard it would be a-" Amadeus was going to reply when Flash and Sam started fake snoring
"Blah, Blah, Blah! Why don't we just have fun and party right now, and leave the science stuff for when we're back at the academy?" Of course Sam and Flash weren't interested in this. Amadeus looked absolutedly done with both of them right now. Peter sure knew how THAT felt. He'd had to deal with it all the time when the team lived with him.
"As I was saying, I heard Stark was releasing new Stark tech and it was like a robot or something, I'm not 100% sure though because there were a lot of theories for what it could be." Amadeus finished. Peter thought he heard some groaning from behind him. Probably Sam and Flash again.
"Well I guess we can just enjoy ourselves now, right?" Peter questioned. He hoped that was it.
"Are you forgetting why Fury sent us here in the first place? Because it definetly wasn't to party." Ava lectured him for forgetting the main reason for why they were even AT Stark Tower.
"Yeah, yeah, protect the rich people and stuff." It'a not like Peter didn't care about the rich people. He did. Especially becuase 2 of those rich people were some of his closest friends. Harry and Danny. He didn't want them getting hurt BUT that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy the party a bit.
"Let's split up into pairs so we can watch over more of the party, but without leaving anyone alone. Also check if your comms are working."Ava instructed. Everyone confirmed that their comm was working before they all split into pairs.
Peter with Sam(unwise), Luke with Ava, Cloak and Dagger(obviously), Flash with Amadeus, and Ka-zar with Squirrel Girl. It seemed like a pretty decent line up(ignoring the first pair)so they all went their seperate directions.
"I bet 5 bucks that everyone will be distracted in the first 10 minutes." Luke whispered to Ava with a smirk, making her smirk in return.
"You really have that much faith in them? I don't even know if they'll last 5 minutes, especially Sam and Peter. They might be arguing right now for all we know!" Ava answered.
"Well I think you might be right about Sam and Peter,” Luke responded as he listened to the yelling of his teammates through his comm.
"I SAID I LOOK LEFT AND YOU LOOK RIGHT" Sam shouted, letting pretty much everyone at the party know where they were.
"NO YOU SAID I LOOK LEFT AND YOU LOOK RIGHT" Peter yelled back, frustration creeping past his usual patience(I mean, it's Sam so..).
"Can you guys stop arguing and focus on the mission," Ava said through their comms.
"NO," They both yelled together, making it hard for Ava to keep her cool. One day these boys were going to kill her.
"Yeah why don't you guys listen to Ava before I get monkey Joe to hide rotten acorns in your pillowcases!" Squirrel Girl threatened. It didn't do much, but it was worth a shot.
"I believe the show is starting now," Ka-zar pointed out.
”Oh yeah, it is!" Dagger confirmed while pointing at the stage. They all turned their heads to the middle of the room. They weren't going down to watch, since they all had found good enough viweing spots around the tower.

"That was AWESOME!" Peter shouted, throwing his arms in the air while smiling.
"It totally was!" Amadeus added "All the special effects were cool, but just seeing Tony Stark in person was a dream come true!"
"I mean I guess it was alright" Flash commented boredly "I was hoping he'd fly around in his Iron Man suit or something, but a guy can't have everything."
"In what world was that just ALRIGHT!?" Amadeus responded absolutely flabbergased "Tony Stark can't do just 'alright', he can only do awesome, amazing, perfect, or other things like that."
"Since that's over, we should go back to focusing on the mission!" Ava added with a hint of irritation in her voice.
"Yeah, we don't want any bad guys getting in on our watch." Cloak agreed while he and Dagger tuned out the arguing.
"Do we HAVE to? I mean it's STARK TOWER! How often do you get invited here!"Peter said, trying to convince Ava.
"FINE! You can have a few more minutes to geek out over being here with Amadeus, but if ANYTHING HAPPENS DURING THAT TIME, then I'm blaming YOU for it." Ava begrudgingly agreed. She knew this probably wasn't the best idea, but Peter looked SOOOOOO happy to be here that she caved. A few minutes couldn't do THAT much damage, right?
"Okay so like 5 minutes and thats in-HOLY SH*T IT'S ONLY BEEN AN HOUR?!?!?!"Peter seemed REALLY confused.
"Yeah, I feel like it's been longer than that," Amadeus said, checking his watch to see if he was just imagining it.
"Well then, you kids should get back to work then," Nick Fury's voice came abruplty. So abruptly that Nova, who was sitting on a ledge, fell back and landed flat on his back.
"HAHHAHHAHAHHAAHHAHA!" Peter couldn't have held in that laugh if he tried, and that went for entire team. They all saw and Sam just sat there on the ground, trying to ignore them all.
"Shut up" he muttered, starting to stand back up.
"Well, GET BACK TO WORK," Fury directed, before the call disconnected.
"Fury's such a partypooper."Sam said before going back to his designated watch spot.
"Yeah, he really is,"Flash agreed before also returning to his place.
That gave everyone else the signal to focus back on the mission, but they weren't the only ones watching this event from afar. They wouldn't figure this out until later, but when they were distracted(barely any of them were on task for the whole hour)someone managed to get past them. They would see the consequences of not paying attention soon enough.
