Even when the usual ache in his bones had turned into a raging fire, forcing him to hunch over and catch his breath after just a few steps. Chronic pain was not an emergency, the rational, medical specialist part of him knew that. And even when the man in him cried out to just take a day off, he shut it out. People were dying. He may feel like he was dying but his pain wasn't, and never would be, an emergency. It was a fucked up muscle that wouldn't stop hurting no matter how much he slacked off. So that meant there was no point in falling behind.
