He hummed softly, placing a cup of water against his lips to help stop his hiccups and keep him hydrated. After a few sips had been swallowed, he put the cup away, holding the kid.
“What happened?”
“There- there were some kids.” Tommy sobbed, “They were- r-really mean.”

“Said you’d get bored like everyone else and change my purpose to a punching bag... and then I wouldn’t even be good enough for that, so then you’d finally leave... cause I’m a stupid foster kid with no mommy...” Tommy whispered, quietly, lip trembling again like when he was about to cry. He didn’t even know if they were wrong or not, and that’s what was most heartbreaking.
7 year old Tommy gets bullied at school, comes home to dadbur, gets comforted by his foster dad before they have a conversation about depression.

In that order.
Or: Izuku is a villain. Kinda. A villain is defined by the use of their quirk, and he's quirkless. Besides, the worse thing he's done is erase Tomura's save files. And befriend the League of Villains. And accidentally kidnap the son of the number two Hero. Shouto likes it better on their couch anyway. Oh, and there's the whole 'traitor' thing too. Welp.
“I’m pulling you over because you were driving with three people on a motorcycle.”
Dabi shifts in his seat, Himiko and Izuku squished in front of him. And then it hits them. “Wait, three?”
They glance behind them.
“Oh fuck,” Izuku curses. “Tomuchan fell off!”

Sirens.
Those are for ambulances, Izuku dimly remembers. And police cars and fire trucks. Izuku always hopes it’s a fire truck, so he can go to the window and watch it zoom along the street below. He has one, in fact. A fire truck. It has a ladder you can move up and down. His mom got it for his birthday. It’s red and white, and the light on top flashes when you put the batteries in.
“Izuku! Where are you?”
Hands reach under him and turn him over. Big and gentle, lifting him off his back, into the air and out of the dirt. He’s folded against someone’s chest. They smell like cologne and smoke, heartbeat steady and slow against his ear. Slowly, Izuku blinks tears away and looks up. It’s a man. With half his face missing, so all that’s left is a smile. “Hello again,” he says and presses a kiss to Izuku’s hair.
Izuku, ears ringing and limbs weak, opens his mouth and screams.

“If you give him some relationship advice and I help him with flirting, we’ll get Lan Zhan his heart’s desire in no time!” Wei Wuxian says boldly, and Lan Xichen rubs his temples as if he’s having a headache. “What?”
“… I have offered him relationship advice,” Lan Xichen says finally, slowly, giving Wei Wuxian a look. “I believe the object of his affections is oblivious to his feelings despite numerous gestures.”
“What an idiot,” Wei Wuxian declares, and Lan Xichen looks downright pained. “Don’t worry, Lan Xichen, between your good advice and my excellent tutoring, we’ll make certain Lan Zhan’s affections will be clear to even the most oblivious.”
“… I certainly hope so,” Lan Xichen says after a moment, looking down at the counter and sighing.

Summary
When Midoriya Izuku began hearing whispers in his head after gaining One for All, he didn't think much of it. When the whispering escalated to full thoughts, suggestions, and that somehow escalated to a couple of ghosts tailing him around, then he began to think much of it.
Or, how Midoriya Izuku and the vestiges of One for All become one big mish-mash of a family.
