Summary
Zoro holds Wado Ichimonji just once, that afternoon, naked on the shore and with Kuina’s watchful, nonjudgmental eyes on the way the white handle and scabbard paint the skin of his webbing milky white, purple with blood held inside.
Kuina brings him a bamboo sword then, one that’s scratchy against his palms, but he uses it because she uses one as well, and together they practice, dressed in matching outfits because Kuina brought him her old uniform and Zoro is still small enough to fit in it.
That fact doesn’t mean anything to him at first. But then he slowly starts to understand. There will always be predators bigger than you, he remembers, and there will always be predators bigger than them.

Summary
Zoro walks with confidence in his step and holds his head high. The cut of his jaw and cheekbones catches light, dappled with seawater. The image of him from two years ago in Sanji’s mind overlaps with reality, and falls into line, but there is no mistaking it – Zoro is stronger now, and the knowledge both ties Sanji’s stomach in knots and makes him giddy with near delight.
They’ve all changed, and on Zoro it shows, but Sanji knows that if he were to cup his face in the dark, he would still know it’s Zoro.

Summary
“The string on my tampon snapped,” Zoro tells him, sullenly. “And I can’t get it out.”
Sanji blinks. He takes stock of Zoro’s bloody hand, then takes a quick peek between his legs again, like he can’t help it, before adverting his gaze to the ceiling. His face is red, the stain spreading down his neck in either embarrassment or fluster.
“I see,” he says.

Summary
Uncertain, Zoro’s hand hovers in the space between them, Sanji putting him out of his misery with a guiding grip around his wrist. The fabric is heavy beneath his fingertips, the weave of it dense. It falls softly, molding to the contours of Sanji’s legs.
While Zoro imagines finding something like that in Perona’s closet, dressing himself in heavy, soft layers, and how it would feel against his skin, Sanji shifts. His upper body slips into Zoro’s personal space, Sanji’s face close to his own, and his soft breaths ghost over Zoro’s cheek.

He hears Sanji jog to catch up to him, and feels the hairs on the back of his neck stand up, sensing danger.
Sanji kicks his heel, falling into step with him. “I’m talking to you, asshole.”
Zoro grunts, looking forward and walking ahead. “Don’t bother.”
Next to him, Sanji lets out an incredulous laugh. “Is this how it’s going to be now? You can’t even look at me?”
Zoro can look at Sanji. Hell, sometimes, it’s all that he can do. Just looking into Sanji’s perfect crystal dome, but never daring to get close in case his fingertips smudge the glass. Looking at Sanji is not an issue, it just hurts more than Zoro is willing to deal with yet.

But when Zoro appears in the morning to start their walk to school as if nothing has happened and none of their friends notice anything’s amiss, he starts thinking Ace wasn’t such a lunatic. Whatever is wearing Zoro’s face has as much of a clue on what happened as Sanji does. And on top of everything, it claims to be in love with him.
What is he supposed to do with that?

He pulls a hand from under himself – he must have been touching himself with it, Sanji realizes, hungrily watching the wet shine on his fingers as he starts patting the floor around him – and rolls a half-liter, dark purple glass bottle in Sanji’s direction.
Sanji stops it with his shoe and uses the tip of it to roll it from side to side as he reads the label. Concentrated fruit aphrodisiac.
“Drink diluted two drops per two deciliters,” he says out loud. The bottle is empty.
He looks at Zoro. “You moron,” he tells him. “You drank it all, didn’t you?”

Sanji makes a noise of surprise and asks, “What the fuck happened to you?”
Zoro is suddenly acutely aware of how clumsy he is on crutches. And how embarrassing his injury is.
“I’ve…had an accident,” he gets out. “I’m fine."
