"James moved closer to Regulus, shoving the tip of his wand to Regulus’s throat. He wanted to see him panic, to see him break. He wanted to see something other than the condescending, irritating, beautiful expression that Regulus normally wore.
Regulus tried to maintain his composure, but there was a brief flicker in Regulus’s eyes that betrayed him. James smirked. “You’re all bark but no bite, aren’t you?”"
During James's final year of Hogwarts, Professor Slughorn forces him to undertake tutoring sessions with Snape if he wants to pass his NEWTs. However, Snape refuses to help out James Potter, which leaves Slughorn to find someone else. James soon learns how inherently irritating his best mate's brother really is.

Summary
As they are approaching the end of their 6th year, the Marauders are planning their annual pre-summer goodbye prank.
When they need access to the Slytherin Common Room, James decides to ask Regulus for help. But why should Regulus help them pranking his own house?

Excerpt:
Remus shifted on the sofa next to Regulus, sighing heavily. He leaned over to read the cover of Regulus’s book and then nodded with approval. Pulling out his own from his bag, he folded his legs underneath him. “Good choice,” he said quietly.
“Mm-hmm,” Regulus hummed in agreement. He flipped the page, then stuck his finger in between to mark his spot. “What are you reading?”
“Step by step dog training,” Remus muttered, side-eyeing Regulus with a smirk.
He snorted with laughter, shoving Remus’s shoulder. “No, really.”
Remus held up the book so the cover faced him. He was actually reading a dog training book. Regulus lost it, shaking with silent laughter as he dropped his face into Remus’s shoulder. It was entirely too ridiculous for words.
“Wh-Why?” he gasped out, flailing a hand at his face.
“I think it will be rather useful information,” Remus replied, sticking his tongue in his cheek.

Regulus has come to the unfortunate realization that James Potter quite literally checks all his boxes.
He’s a challenge, surely, given how apt he was to counter Regulus’ quips. He’s certainly annoying, but in this awfully endearing way that really just makes Regulus want to shut him up via his mouth. And by god, is the man cute.

Summary
Regulus spent most of his childhood learning about things children shouldn’t learn about. There was the cruelty, and the pain, but there was also the horribly boring stuff like French and Latin and the goddamn dictionary. Regulus was seven using words like insipid and derivative and reverence.
The dictionary says reverence means to admire and respect deeply. The dictionary is wrong; it was James Potter who taught him reverence.
