Chapter Text
Paloma discovered Earth about a week after it was created. The greens and water were perfect for her children. She spread her wings to glide down to this unusual new world. She landed on the soft ground. She giggled as the grass tickled her legs.
“This will be perfect,” She said with a smile. She had been traveling the cosmos, trying to find the perfect planet that could host her new beginnings.
But a lot of work needed to be done first. These new beings needed a plan, and not just a good old plan; she needed help. As much as she could, she wanted to raise her children to be independent, but she wanted a second opinion. This was her first time creating an earth full of creatures like her.
She was a sheep, with two horns wrapping around her ghostly ears. She had 2 sets of angelic wings on each side of her back and shiny golden hooves.
“I wonder if someone owns this place?” Paloma would be lying if she didn’t think it odd that the god that created this planet simply abandoned it. “Whoever created this place has to be here somewhere.”
After walking a few miles, she realized that nobody resided here. Not each other's children.
Paloma knew she was a god, or well, a mini god, so she knew things mortals didn’t, but this was beyond her.
“Hey!” Someone called from behind her.
Paloma gasped and turned around to see another sheep god standing behind her. He had only two wings, but 2 sets of horns instead of one. Instead of ghostly white, he was all black like the night. “Who are you?” The stranger asked.
“My name is Paloma. I came here to possibly start a life here. Are you the creator perchance?” Paloma walked closer, but the stranger backed up.
The other sheep squinted at her. “Yes… I am…”
“Great! You know I’ve been walking around, and I love this world you have…”
“You can’t have it.” The sheep said.
“What?”
“It’s not yours to have.”
Paloma was surprised to hear his answer. She had heard of other gods taking another's creation, merely because they weren't powerful enough to make their own. But that wasn’t the issue Paloma was having. She was simply just… lonely. When you get powerful enough, the Angel of Great Life sends you off on your own, but never shows you how to create those planets.
“You create your own story, whether you take or give; it’s all up to you.” That's what the Angel of Great Life explained to the minis in Paloma’s class.
She planned to share, which is why this stranger sheep should reconsider.
“No, no, you misunderstand,” Paloma explained. “I wanna share, you see?”
“Share?” The stranger scrutched up his nose. “Yeah right! You guys are always here to take and take and take; very rarely do you guys make any effort to do your own thing.”
“Most of us weren't taught to…”
“Yeah, cause that angel teacher of yours lets you guys do whatever you want. Don’t you see the issue?” The stranger sighed. “Whoever was taught by this ‘Angel of Great Life’ is bound to be selfish and greedy.”
Who could talk about The Angel of Great Life like that? That’s not fair.
“Were you not taught by The Angel of Great Life too?”
“No… well, I mean yes, but I left the nest way earlier than I was supposed to because I didn’t believe in The Angel’s teachings.”
Paloma gasped. “But The Angel created you. Don’t you think that's a little disrespectful?”
“No… You know why?”
“Why?”
The stranger got close to her face. “I would’ve killed you already if I did.”
“Ooh, um, I believe you're a good one… and I'm a good one too!” Paloma took out her hand. “So, how about this… you can create anything you want, obviously because you created this land, IF I can create what resides here.”
The stranger looked at her hand. “Either way, I will be able to create my land here, unless I don't agree something bad will happen, right?”
“O-oh um…”
“Exactly, see how bad that is?” The stranger backed up. “Now leave!”
“B-but… please…”
“GO!” The stranger spat. “Go make your own land.”
“Fine… But if you think us so horrible, look at yourself.” The stranger looked down at himself. “I never attacked you; if I wanted your land without you on it, I would have fought you to get it. But you are so keen on keeping your land to yourself, that's pretty mean and selfish in my book.”
“I…” The stranger went silent before speaking. “Fine! But you follow my rules, and if you don't, you're out of here.”
“Okay, fine, now can I create my creations here?”
“We'll see,” The stranger said. “Prove yourself to me, then we'll see.”
Paloma nodded. Finally, she had a friend.
