Lupa settled beside him, her warmth surrounding him. Jason buried himself in her fur, trying to melt the ice freezing his bones, the cold etched in his body.
“Mercy is not our way, little pup.” She hummed, the low growl of her voice fading away as his eyelids grew heavier. “There is no one to protect you, now. Not anymore.”
Because his mother had left. Because Beryl had lied, broke her own rules.
He wouldn’t, Jason swore to himself as he drifted away to the world of dreams. He wouldn’t be like his mother. At the edge of slumber, he felt the wolf’s snout brush his forehead.
“You will learn to survive, Jason Grace, or you will die.”
(basically a story of Jason's life with heavy metaphors on drowning because I can)
