Summary
A mysterious illness surfaces in a remote Port Giles, its symptoms resembling accelerated aging—hair whitening, muscle atrophy, hallucinations of dead loved ones. The town is placed under strict quarantine, and Mulder insists on entering when he sees a familiar face in the background of a surveillance photo: Samantha. Against Scully’s advice and CDC orders, he exposes himself to the pathogen. As his body begins to fail him, Scully races to find the origin of the disease, which may not be a virus, but an alien consciousness using the human body as a host before burning it out. The longer Mulder hears Samantha’s voice, the more he questions if the illness is really killing him, or showing him what he always wanted to believe.
