"Oh, come on!"
"Beaten once again?" A nineteen year old Aislinn Evans asked with a giggle as she watched her older brother play the remake of "Final Fantasy 7" and get thoroughly defeated by Sephiroth once more with no small amount of amusement and Harry immediately gave her a small glare in answer as he then restarted the battle from the start and gave her the game controller and told her that if she thought it was so funny, she could try her hand at it.
She did and even though it was hard, she did manage to beat him and get to the end of the game, letting out a deep and relieved breath once she triggered the ending cutscene and the fight was over. Harry pouted at seeing this and Aislinn snickered. "So, all ready to leave tomorrow?" Harry then asked to change the subject and she shrugged in answer as they watched Sephiroth give Cloud the offer to join him and Cloud immediately refusing.
"I feel like I'm more ready to go than mum and dad are to let me go even though they promised to let me go once I was of age." She muttered as she stretched her arms to get rid of the tense posture she had during the final fight while the game finished and the credits rolled. Harry chuckled as he turned the TV off and looked at her. "This is your very first journey that you will do completely on your own and we obviously don't know what you will come across, so you can't exactly blame them for being nervous." He told her. She sighed in answer as she leant back.
"I know, but I'm not a child. I'm a Slytherin and I know how to be careful. And if I get in trouble, I'll turn into my animagus form." She said and Harry gave snorted. It had been a surprise when Aislinn had been sorted into the same house as he, Cathan going into Hufflepuff. A bigger surprise had been her animagus form last year and he still remembered waiting for her to come out with his family only to hear a horrified "MUM!" being shouted from within.
"Only in emergencies, understood?" He asked in a stern tone and she immediately nodded as she was very aware how dangerous her animagus form was and how fast she could kill an ally or even a friend if she wasn't careful. Still, her parents were making the final preparations for her after they constantly interrupted her packing to ask if she had this certain thing until she finally let them pack her things so they could stop worrying.
"Any ideas on where to go? Perhaps go and catch a few more Pokemon and get a full-fledged team like Melody?" Harry asked and Aislinn made a face in answer. She was happy enough with Mew, Arcanine and Florges as it was. Besides, she didn't want anyone trying to take Mew away from her once they saw she had a mythical Pokemon with her after learning how incredibly rare her Pokemon was. She just wanted to go somewhere random and she didn't really care where she'd land as long as she didn't immediately land in a battle or something
Telling her brother this, he hummed. "Fair enough, but you better visit Sapphira before you go. I think she wants to let you borrow one of her Pokemon just in case. If you don't want to, you should probably tell her." He stated and she nodded as she gave him a hug and left. Going to her sister's house, she knocked on the door and her fifteen year old niece opened it. "I'm afraid you will have to pay a toll to get in." Edelgard stated as she held out her hand.
At times like these, Aislinn could definitely see that she had been an emperor in her past life. They never did manage to find out exactly how Edelgard managed to somehow arrive at her sister's doorstep but neither Ferdinand, nor Sapphira were really complaining as they had immediately done their best to give her the best possible childhood possible and as weird as it was considering they had been classmates once, Edelgard did see them as her parents.
No one was looking forwards to two years from now in case Edelgard would regain her memories like everyone else who had been reborn and how she would react that not only were her new parents her former friends and classmates, but she had started a war in her past life. Shaking herself, Aislinn asked what the toll was and Edelgard quickly opened her arms for a hug which her aunt happily gave. Despite technically being only four years older than her niece with Cathan only a year older than the girl, Edelgard had never questioned that they were her aunt and uncle.
A few minutes later after talking to Sapphira, Aislinn returned to see her parents all finished up packing and she was pretty sure guayaquil her Knight uncles were already preparing the goodbye party for tonight. "Are you done?" She asked and they nodded as Morgana pulled her into her arms. "Mum. I'll be fine. I promise." She muttered, even as she hugged her mother back and Morgana simply smiled in answer as she stroked her daughter's hair.
"I know, sweetheart. I just can't believe you're finally heading out on your own and going to places we don't know. You'll come back home immediately if there's any danger, right?" Morgana asked quietly and Aislinn immediately promised as she nuzzled into her mother's shoulder, Merlin eventually joining the hug. Aislinn took a deep breath as she hugged both her parents. She was going to miss them, but she had been waiting years for this.
That night, there was a small goodbye party and everyone of the family was there. Arthur and Gwen were there with their children as were all of the knights and their own families. In the past decade, Percival, Elyan and Gwaine had all eventually married Dorothea, Bernadetta and Hapi respectively with Turturro weddings ranging from grand to humble and the three couples couldn't be happier with their lives now as Percival and Dorothea were now the proud parents of six year old twin boys and even Elyan and Bernadetta had a daughter of three years old
Sapphira and Ferdinand had their hands full trying to juggle their two year old son Jonathan and their five year old daughter Vanadey while Melody and Malon didn't have any sort of trouble since they still only had Theodosia and even then, they sometimes had their hands full as it turned out their daughter had magic as well, but very different than the magic most of them had. Still, they did their best to raise her and help her control her powers.
Edelgard never got any magic and had been heartbroken when her letter never arrived like it did with her aunt, uncle and cousins, but Ferdinand had gently reminded her that he didn't have any magical either and neither did Bernadetta and that cheered her up again. Boy, had that been a shock for both Dorothea and Bernadetta to suddenly come face-to-face with a five year old version of their old friend, but they had gotten used to it
The party was a lot of fun, but Aislinn really had to leave the next day and she and her closest family gathered to say goodbye near the ritual room. "Do you have your bracelet?" Morgana asked and her youngest daughter immediately raised her hand to show her the leather bracelet adorning her wrist. After all the dangers Melody and Sapphira had gone through, everyone who was old enough to travel through the universes would now have to wear such magical bracelets and use them when in danger to give a signal for help and the others would be able to find them
They all hugged her and wished her luck and she thanked them, before stepping back and into the ritual room. Taking a deep breath and blowing them a kiss, she activated the runes and disappeared into a flash of bright light. She landed in a dark alleyway and carefully peeked out. Seeing no one, she walked out and immediately came face to face with the front of a theatre. At seeing the name of the place, she muttered one thing "Oh shit."
Back in Camelot, everyone went on with their lives and months passed. They received the occasional letter from Aislinn, but she never told them where she was. It wasn't until two years passed and Cathan was old enough to travel that they started to get worried, but not long after that, they had to deal with Edelgard getting her memories back and running away to a different universe for a bit before eventually calling her parents to come pick her up.
Aislinn's whereabouts were slightly put on the back-burner while they dealt with Edelgard having an identity crisis, Harry being a huge help with that, but once the young woman was calmed down and assured of her place in the family, they decided to go look for her, even if Aislinn didn't say she was in trouble. They were just curious what on earth she was doing that was taking so long. Sapphira briefly went to Fódlan with Edelgard and at seeing Garreg Mach, the latter got nervous and tearful and considering what she did in her past life, that wasn't really odd
As it turned out, centuries had passed this time and only Seteth and Flayn were still alive, going under different names. Edelgard refused to look them in the eye while Sapphira asked if they had seen Aislinn, but they stated they hadn't seen her since her wedding. "Thank you anyway, my dear friends. Come on, sweetheart. Let's go home." Sapphira stated and Edelgard looked at the father-daughter pair, seeing the moment Seteth recognised her.
"I'm sorry. For everything I have done. I'm so sorry." She whispered with a bow towards them before she hurried after her mother, leaving the two to stare after her in shock, before Seteth hummed as he could sense a change in her and hoped it was for the better. Going back to Camelot and meeting the others, they found out that no one had any luck finding Aislinn in any of the world's they had been in and Sapphira scratched her head in confusion.
"She's got to be somewhere." She muttered.
