Summary
Makoto was determined to redeem the remnants of despair. He knew it wasn't their fault for the crimes they committed, the tragedy they caused, rather it was Junko Enoshima's fault, and he wouldn't stop until he undid the damage done to them by her despair. He was ready to put them into the Neo-World Program, and once they graduated they could live new, rehabilitated lives. All he had to do was go into the program and transfer their consciousnesses into their digital bodies and begin their school trip. Nothing could go wrong..Right?

Summary
Makoto wakes up in the hospital after the events of Hope Arc. It turns out that running on pure adrenaline with severe injuries was NOT the best decision for his health.
Being bedridden forces him to dwell on some things that he would rather just lock in a tiny box and throw away. And a familiar blond does not make things much easier.
Byakuya gets filled in on what he missed during the final killing game, while trying to hide the fact that he is concerned for his frie-colleague.

Summary
Makoto Naegi, famed Future Foundation member, is tasked with rescuing all of the survivors of Hopes Peak Academy. Though it won't be easy to save 15 people corrupted by despair, his undying hope will surely carry him through. But when one survivor catches his eye and promises him his alliance, he realizes its an offer he just can't pass up.
Izuru Kamukura, abandoned test experiment, realizes that the remnants of despair, terrorists responsible for global destruction, have been labelled as innocent survivors of the tragedy, and in need of rescuing by the Future Foundation. He wanted to wait and see the cost of their foolish ignorance. But when one member comes up to him, mistaking him for Hajime Hinata, Izuru has an opportunity to see which outcome would provide him more entertainment, hope or despair, and he immediately seizes it.
(A canon-compliant story about how Makoto Naegi and Izuru Kamakura faced and challenged the horrifying remnants of despair. Takes place between Ultra Despair Girls and Danganronpa 2)

Makoto's luck was always an odd thing.
On one hand it kept leading him into painful experience after painful experience.
So much so that he was actually being scouted out as the 'Ultimate Emergency Medic' by Hopes Peak.
But he also always survived all of the horrible things that happened to him.
And he did end up getting into Hopes Peak via lucky raffle.
.... Well at least he had friends to help him out.
