Summary
“I thought we were gonna be together,” he whispers. It’s barely audible, but he knows both of his friends heard him. They exchange a look that Joel can’t read, and it’s just another way that Joel’s locked out of their love. He shakes his head, trying to choke back the tears. “You said you loved me, and I thought– but we’re not. You love him. You want him. And he wants you.” Joel releases a shaky breath. “And I want you both and I can’t have you.”
Jimmy’s hand rests on Joel’s other wrist. “You can have us.”
Joel looks between them, his jaw clenched to keep his lip from trembling. “Shouldn’t you be asking him?” he demands, jerking his chin toward Tango. Jimmy chuckles softly.
“Don’t have to. He wants you.” Jimmy squeezes Joel’s hand. “And I do, too.”

Summary
Tango’s drinking coffee, sitting in a plush chair that’s not facing the table, and all around them are the sounds of the early Saturday morning. Tango’s hair is a little messy and he’s gonna need to comb it before they leave the house. He sleeps in his underwear and never bothers to put on real clothes until the very last second. He’s overly critical of himself, but he defends his friends and Jimmy with every ounce of his being, and Jimmy is hopelessly, desperately in love with him. Today is six years since their first date—Jimmy picked Tango up on his bike and they drove around the city for a little while before going to see a movie. Tango had held Jimmy’s hand whenever he could, had laughed brightly at the biggest moments in the film, and had bought Jimmy a refill of popcorn when he spilled it all over himself—and Jimmy forgot.

Summary
It’s already Midyear, the summer days dawning longer and longer, burning warmer and warmer, and soon it will be Sun’s Height. Four months Tango has known Jimmy; simultaneously a lifetime and a single breath. Sometimes Tango thinks Jimmy is blessed by Akatosh, the way that time seems to flow around him in whatever stream he pleases.
But Akatosh is not the Divine Jimmy serves, Tango doesn’t think. He’s seen the outline of Jimmy’s treasured pendant, traced it with his eyes enough times to have a pretty good idea that Jimmy devotes himself to Ysmir.
Two months ago, in Rain’s Hand, the Dovahkiin made clear his intention to join the Stormcloaks. Jarl Balgruuf of Whiterun joined the Imperials. Jimmy is not barred from Whiterun—the entire guard force couldn’t keep him out if this was where he wanted to be—but it should mean that they can’t see each other like this. Certainly not so publicly.

Summary
In every functional way, Joel is a perfect alpha. But lai has omega pheremones, and occasionally omega-adjacent impulses and instincts. Lai needs an alpha to soothe li when lai gets upset (that’s what Jimmy and Bdubs are for). Lai nests when lai’s particularly distressed. Lai still has ruts, though, and if lai had an omega partner, lai could get them pregnant, just like any other alpha.
But still… people assume lai’s an omega, because lai smells like an omega, and lai’s not about to tell them lai’s a beta. Lai doesn’t want that kind of heat. Lai doesn’t want to hear the comments, lai doesn’t want to invite the violence.
(Lai still has nightmares about picking Jimmy up from the ER when lai got beaten up for being a beta, and when Scar told li about what its parents did to it when it presented as a beta, lai almost threw up.)

Bdubs turns back to him, some of the gleam returning to his gaze. “Yeah, well I’m gonna hand you your lunch! I’m gonna shake you down for your pocket change! I’m gonna– I’m gonna—”
“Are you gonna come up with a better threat?” Joel goads. He just needs to keep Bdubs’ attention on him. Everyone else can focus on Etho, as they probably should be considering it’s his birthday, but Bdubs… Bdubs should always be looking at Joel.
[Maybe he’s too young yet to name the warm feeling that grows in his chest when he looks at Bdubs. To give voice to the ugly, caustic part of him that hates the way Bdubs looks at Etho, and thinks about Etho, and talks about Etho– all the time, Etho this, Etho that. He chews on it like sunflower seeds, trying to swallow the bitterness with his cherry soda. He’s too young. But soon.]

Bdubs suppresses the laughter that threatens to bubble in his chest. “You're not gay,” he repeats, unable to mask his disbelief. “I got news for ya, buddy, straight guys don't look at me like that.”
An affronted noise echoes in the darkness. “Look at you like what?”
“Like they want to spread me out on their bedsheets and devour me like a three-course meal,” Bdubs answers, amused.
