It takes a while and she considers knocking again just in case he didn't hear her, but alas, the teenager opens the door. He looks dead. Completely exhausted. He's pale, the bags under his eyes are more prominent than she's comfortable with, and his eyes and nose are bloodshot red. He looks as if he'd been awake for seventy-two hours straight studying for a test that was yesterday. It wasn't pretty.
He just blinks at her. Rumi almost laughs at the look of shock on his face
"Still shorter than me, eh, Tetsurō-?"

Again with the sarcasm, the snappy rhetorical questions. Tai feels a flash of irritation, the way she always inevitably does with Natalie. There’s just something about her that grates, gets on her nerves. She’s never been able to describe it.
