Crowley discovers this when he finds a plate of beautiful scones in his apartment’s little entryway a few days later. He nearly steps on them, but fortunately notices just in time. There’s a note attached to the top – Anthony, thank you ever so much again for the rescue the other day. I hope you like lemon and vanilla! – your neighbor E.
The scones are some of the best he’s ever had.
He makes sure to say so the next time he sees Ezreal, who gives him another one of those soft, beaming looks as if Crowley has done something remarkable.

Summary
Newt zones out completely halfway through the conversation about how inappropriate his converses are for the situation. He’s heard it before, but his dad only asked once if he wanted to wear different shoes. These are the shoes he likes to wear, that he feels most comfortable in. He can easily take the upbraiding, it’s much easier than telling the truth. He’d be fawned over, told he was a very precious boy and what talent he himself must have if he’d just come clean about his reason for being at the concert. He knows this because it’s happened to him since he was young.
When he was smaller, Monica would parade him around, put him in cute outfits and tell everyone how proud she was of her child. She’d make comments on Newt’s brightness and brilliance without actually knowing what interested him or made him tick. Often when she did find out, she was disappointed or disgusted. He learned early on to keep his mouth shut in these situations.or Newt thinks he's going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy
