Summary
At eighteen, the world already expects perfection from them. Max carries the weight of a father who sees him as nothing more than a project to break and rebuild. Charles on the other hand, hides his own grief behind the polished smile expected of a prodigy. On the track, they're meant to fight each other. Off the track, Charles is the only one to see through the cracks in Max's armor and he is the only one patient enough to hold him together.
Both Max and Charles are eighteen in this fic, they joined in 2024 when they were 17. Everyone else is the same age only Max and Charles are younger. They are also both on Red Bull because I said so. Carlos is still at Ferrari with Lewis, and Yuki is with Alex at Williams. Max’s 2024 placing are the same as 2017.Charles are the same as 2018. 2025 placings will stay the same for both of them. Is it very believable for just their second season? No, but we live, laugh, love, and ignore that for the purpose of this fic.

He turned, finally meeting Max’s eyes with devastating gentleness. “I’ll always love you. But I’m not in love with you anymore. You have to accept that. Stop waiting for me to come back. Stop killing yourself on hope. You’ll always have my best wishes, but not my future.”
And with that, Charles walked away. Left Max in the kitchen, shattered, stranded among ghosts of memories that still burned on his lips.

Summary
Oscar can feel the knot in his stomach relax a little at the affirmations. He takes a steadying breath and exhales heavily. “Shit, I really am an idiot.” He chuckles softly at himself.
“Yes, you are.” Charles says it but the smile is still spreading across his face. “Just so you know, you are being punished tonight for lying. And for leaving.”
Oscar almost chokes when he hears the words but he nods along anyhow. “Yeah I suppose that’s fair.”
Max squeezes his thigh once more to get his attention. When Oscar does look over at him, he looks like he’s plotting something terrible. “Do not react, Osc. We definitely cannot get caught doing this.”
Oscar furrows his eyebrows in confusion. He opens his mouth to say something but snaps it shut quickly when he feels two hands on his knees, spreading his legs apart. He whips his head around and sees Charles is no longer sitting beside him. He knows he can’t lift the table cloth to look under the table, but he also knows exactly who the hands belong to without looking.
“Oh shit.”
or; Oscar ditched Max and Charles after they hooked up, so they punish him for it.
