He wanted to learn the idiosyncrasies of Caleb’s cats, and press a kiss to his brow when he woke, and learn what his favorite books were so he could surprise him with them. He wanted to call Caleb those sweet things a lover calls their companion, and for the words to not feel like ash in his mouth.
