"And besides, I’m on a mission," Eddie replied, not taking his eyes off the screen.
"What mission?"
He bit his lip, considering whether to share his little obsession. In the end, he decided Steve would find out sooner or later anyway.
"Winning you over."
Steve blinked, confused. He walked over to the couch and sat down heavily next to Eddie—with some difficulty, given his belly—and set the bowl of chips in the Alpha’s lap.
"Winning me over?" he repeated, arching an eyebrow. "Eds, we’re already together. I’m pretty sure you won me over a long time ago." He gestured broadly at his belly. "Exhibit A."
"No, no, in the game," Eddie clarified, pointing at the screen. "I created your character, okay? A character based entirely on you. And I put him in the game’s neighborhood. But your character hates me. He rejects me constantly. He wants nothing to do with me."
